FRMS as Audio Effect - Strange Tuning!

FRMS as audio FX looks really useful, but I’m completely confused about how pitch/tuning works ...

I’m playing a synth note at pitch C4, going through FRMS as audio FX in AUM.

FRMS Coarse, Fine, Tune and Tune Random are all set to 0, and the Matrix is reset. Only Layer 1 is On.

If I send FRMS a C4 note, The grains are pitched at C5
If I send it a C3 note, the grains are pitched at G4
If I send it a C2 note, the grains are pitched at E4
If I send it a C1 note, the grains are pitched at D4
If I send it a C0 note, the grains are pitched at C#4

If I tune COARSE to -36, grain pitch drops 10 semitones.
If I tune COARSE to +14, grain pitch rises by an octave.
If I tune COARSE to +34, grain pitch rises by two octaves.

Also, sometimes the sound of a patch changes completely after saving it.
