which iceGear synth for unusualness
I'm always looking for new unheard sounds (I know it kind of an illusion really, but...). Which iceGear synth is the most surprising for creating great unusual variety, or can this even be said of any of them?

Comments
Lagrange has loads of different oscillators that can produce pretty weird noises.
If I had to pick one iceGear synth Lagrange would be it...
Thank you!
Lagrange is by far IceGear’s best and most tweakable synth, but Kronecker starts out unusual, and probably gets even weirder if you mess with it...
I only have a few of them, but Kronecker is the most unique, ie does things that no other synth I have does
great feedback. thanks all! I love this place! get quick and nuanced answers every time...
Same here. Lagrange is great, but Kronecker can really produce some interesting noises
Kronecker, no question.
Ok, thanks, leaning in the direction of Kronecker!
+1
Everything is so cool.

I got kronecker the other day and am having great fun with it so far. Was thinking of redshrike and mersenne too but not sure that I’m going to get much more out of them than what I’ve already got...
Redshrike
I shoulda kept my big mouth shut 🤐
Back to YouTube demos... 🤣
Icegear/ice works synths are all unusual. Mersenne is good for percussive sounds. Laplace is good for resonator/string like sounds.
I believe Lagrange can do a lot but there’s also more “work” involved.
I’ve recently purchased Redshrike. Also unusual.
Just my two cents
Mersenne is my go-to for percussive tones. The best on iOS, IMHO.
Is it actually that much more good in that regard compared to kronecker? I tweaked around on Friday and got lots of great stuff and can’t see what’s different in the synth engine that would mean both would be that useful...
I use Mersenne a lot for evolving lead tones (with longer attack) that sit under vocal lines to double that melody and support/add ambience.
I still like Cassini. Maybe still the best delay FX inside any iOS synth.
+1 per @Monome
all special, (so buy all)
They’re all good.
@Krupa I wouldn’t say “more good” just different, although yes, you can also do percussive sounds with Kronecker. Mersenne has two oscillators, which can be delayed. Kronecker has an ADSR envelope and a resonator and the rhythm-thing.
Cheers @Monome you’ll cure me of appstinence with that sort of talk
Though with the layers thing kronecker kinda has four oscillators, anyway, I only got 37 pennies left of the ‘larger than I should have bought’ iTunes voucher from a few weeks back 😱
Yeah, not a big deal if you can't afford both as you can cover similarish ground with both. Maybe it's because I started on Mersenne and have my presets all mapped out but I just find it easier to dial in plinks and plucks with Mersenne than Kronecker.
Yeah it’s definitely a little bit of a gap to not use the sequencer in kronecker but once I got it, made sense... I’ll see what this week brings in terms of possible work but feel like I should explore drambo and the two icegears I’ve already got, redshrike really intrigues me though, I envision shrieking squealing madness but can’t find that many examples of it in use...
This, for sure. The out of the box first preset is pretty much exactly the elusive “tone“ I sought on my (now long gone) fender jag
Well, if you have drambo that should take a little of your time.
And you’re right, Kronecker has 4 oscillators!!
Stick to it and buy Mersenne on Black Friday 😉
Ok, now it seems to be between Kronecker and Redshrike. I love resonators, and mostly i love hitherto unheard sounds! So hard to decide. I only want to get one and spend enough time to give it it’s due out of respect for the app.
Kronecker for really unusual stuff and Lagrange for unusual stuff which can turn into usual stuff. Kronecker is the most unique probably tho. I have a hard time thinking of any hardware or software which is at all similar.
Kronecker is the most unusual synth I have used in a while. That said, Lagrange, Mersenne and Laplace are all very useful.
