live looping in drambo

are there anybody working on a live looping setup in drambo?

  • I think this will be easier when we get MIDI learn for the app controls. The developer has hinted there may be future updates/modules which make live looping more straight forward as well.

Currently you can make use of the Flexi sampler to loop on the fly. It does not function as a loop pedal but you can sync record to pattern length (you must manually trigger record start and stop though).

You can also use the Recorder module, which can be plocked to record and play on any given step. You could stack recorders in a Layer module to achieve “overdubs”.

  • i was so impressed after ı had watched live looping octatrack videos , and since everybody says electron workflow is similar to drambo , I have a whisful thinking that drambo will be my "poor man's octatrack". why not? :)

  • I have a feeling it will get there sooner or later.

  • But it’s just a feeling.

  • The recorder module would need at least a "clear" and ideally a "reverse" p-lock which it currently does not support. @giku_beepstreet hasn't commented on it yet so it may take a while.
What ypu can do now is record once using multiple recorders, all rec and play buttons automated on sequencer steps. Sounds awkward but with a bit of patience, a fun recording setup can be done already.

  • aghhh live looping would be awesome. there’s got to be a way

    Hack:
Multiple Drambo instances solo/mute. If you’re in AUM and Drambo is running midi use the Bypass option in the midi controls!

  • @Denizzy What does a live looper have to do? If it’s only recording a few tracks consecutively and keep looping them, it’s possible. But I guess you would want something beyond that?

i don't have an octatrack, I am not sure how its looper is working but as far as I hear from videos I want to record and adjust parameter locks to recorded sample

I’d be happy with that , how do you do set it up to live loop?

    This one works for me

Rerecording is not evident, though. It’s tied to a cycle condition, so you have to clear the recording and know which cycle you’re in 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • If you want to start mangeling loops immediately you can use the flexisampler in record pattern mode. Just hit record shortly after your loop started and it wil start the recording on the next return, and stop on he first cycle after you hit the rec button again. Slice it up and p-lock at will.
I usually set up a few tracks, record a few loops and do just that.
More fun than quality in my case, but fun is not necessarily a bad thing. 😇

excellent thanks . what is P-lock?

Parameter Lock. Each step can have its own knob etc settings.

  • How could we develop this is 2024?/where are we with live looping in Drambo?

  • Maybe just add Loopy Pro.

Or learn how to record live using Flexi Sampler.
Record in sync with the pattern, use multiple Flexis on the same track to record multiple loops and MIDI map the "REC" and "Remove" controls for hands-free foot switch control.
Toggle REC to record and overdub, hit "Remove" to clear a recorded loop.

I made a live looper that controls multiple Flexis, just for fun. It controls the loop length like a typical looper. https://forum.beepstreet.com/discussion/2951/utility-tap-time#latest

I don't expect you could use this as a substitute for something dedicated like Loopy, but its a fun exercise in hacking something together. I'm sure you could extend it but a dedicated module or AUV3 is going to be better just from a user experience and design perspective.
