OT: Novation Launch Control Xl Editor Issue (RESOLVED, sort of)

edited April 2020 in Other

And it’s a big one if you want to use this sturdy, affordable device with an iPad. Just got my hands on one and it appears that if you have plans to use it with AUM and Ableton, you are sh*t out of luck. The template editor is not compatible with MacOS Catalina (10.5), which was released 6 months ago!

Any other Launchkey users here with tips on creating alternate templates? Or info on what the F Novation has planned for iOS users?

Man, I am pissed! 😾😾😾

Thanks for the help.

EDIT: Not sure how that poll link got in there, or how to get rid of it.

  • Hold onto the XL, it's a great bit of kit.

Novation are usually pretty good at keeping stuff alive and updated so I'm sure they're likely working on a solution.

  • Here’s hoping. Although it’s been 6 months since the upgrade to Catalina. Waiting on Novation support...

    Thanks @SpookyZoo.

  • There is a third party app for iOS. MIDISynth control

  • When I picked up a new one a few months back the Editor wasn’t included in the software bundle. I think they stopped shipping it with the MK2

  • Will add that since I don't use a dedicated Windows machine any more - I was desperate enough to pick up VMware to keep on with the Editor, a costly no-brainer for me. I did try the free route of Tweeting about it months back, unfortunately did not move the mountain. Clock is always ticking toward new macOS in October...

Looks that does the job, and in iOS to boot. Haven’t gone for the 13 dollar IAP yet, but there it is.

    Thanks for everyone’s input.
