DRAMBO HELP: How to trigger with external MIDI

Sorry, this is a beginner question.

How can I load the standard DRAMBO drum rack and trigger it with my ROLI Block?

I’m getting variations from within each pad but I want to play snare on one pad, bass on another. Not ten bass variations, etc.

Thanks!

  • Hey! You can change each track to respond to an individual midi note and always be receiving. Easiest way to do this is in the Main rack view (first pad) and tap on the Track’s module header. Scroll down and you’ll see midi options.

  • That did it. Thank you!

  • When I do that with synth sounds like bass drum, no problem. But when I do it to a sample, I lose the sample. And I seem to be triggering in a different range.

Also, once I have a sound like a bassdrum, how can I play it chromatically?

  • Yeah if you were using Sampler, your sample is tied to a specific note range so that would be something to figure out separately.

Is your bass drum a sample on the Sampler module or is it made up of other modules?

To play some sounds chromatically while also being able to trigger all tracks from a midi controller, you’d need to make use of the Note Filter midi module so that only certain midi notes pass through.
