Metagrid 1.5 DAW control.

Has anyone used this app yet for DAW control specifically Ableton Live ? Does it bring anything more to the table than say Touchable Pro ? It looks more configurable. Looks like it been around a while first I’ve heard of it.

  • This is intriguing: “Control any application on Mac/PC”. There are options on Mac (Alfred, BetterTouchTool) that have companion iOS apps for creating advanced macros and doing something similar I think. I also use “ControllerMate” to use MIDI hardware to interface with applications similarly.

  • I tried it a few years ago and feature wise it was very impressive but found the latency was too high for me to get used to.

  • It's really good but I use it for shortcuts for all desktop apps not just music based. Takes a while to set up as you add more and more shortcuts over time. I don't really use it for actual music though, more for keyboard commands of menus etc

Nice recent update, now has an omni space mode. It's great you can have different scenes for apps so different shortcuts available when in different modes.

You can create chains of commands with pauses to create useful shortcuts with menus which are deeply buried away in a gui.
Lots of uses for it, recommended :)

I've not used it as an Ableton controller yet though as Touchable pro is better suited for this I think, but would definitely be useful after creating a detailed template for it.
