  • Divinity - Original Sin 2 for iPad is back on half price sale. Well worth it at full price IMHO. :)

  • Anyone playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which is comfortably one of the best games of all time?

  • edited May 2023

I've plowed through a number of games in the last 6 months or so:

    Borderlands 3
    Elden Ring
    Tiny Tina's Wonderlands
    Final Fantay XV
    Bioshock Infinite
    Hellblade

I'd been without an Xbox for a few years, so I'm catching up on all the ones I wanted to play but missed. I'm balls deep into Red Dead Redemption 2 at the moment and having an absolute blast.

Yes, it’s ridiculously good, best game I’ve ever played hands down. All the freedom and challenging exploration of the first one, without all the rage induced controller throwing like I was used to in Elden ring.

It's just SO gigantic, isn't it? I feel like I'll be spending hundreds of hours in, above and below Hyrule.

Halo Reach - XBoneX. Like ODST, its a much tighter side-story experience. Probably would be more into it had I not just gone through the Master Chief Collection in release order, back-to-back. At this point, I'm just a little tired of firing at the same bullet-sponges, with the same under-powered weapons (I don't care what planet you're from...a headshot is a headshot!).

  • Doom eternal is annoying.

Its on a hard setting but its really a game made for energy drinking morons!

  • Waiting impatiently for No Man's Sky on ipad

  • Rocksmith Plus is apparently released for iOS on Friday, will definitely give that a go. Subscription based, but with a seven day free trial.

Is that happening? I was just thinking of buying it for the Switch.

  • Wife and I are doing the tiny house thing starting next month and unfortunately won’t have space for my PS5 anymore as it’s ridiculously huge, so I just sold it. For now, I’ll be using my iPad and OLED Switch for gaming, which is honestly more than enough for me. Stoked to play the new Zelda game.

After that it’s time to save up for a gaming laptop 💻

Sean Murray, the main guy tweeted a tease featuring a red apple and a green apple. The other day he tweeted the red apple with the official Mac release announcement and a message saying more news very soon... The iosgaming nerds are pinning their hopes on the green apple... Supposedly the announcement will be this week.

    That's very interesting!!! How Tiny!?

  • Going to snag Last of Us, Hell Let Loose, and Battlefield 2042 as they are on sale.

Agree with an earlier comment. Gaming much easier than making music.

I’ve not played hell let loose in ages but it’s a blast

  • The only game I play is Wipeout HD Fury, Eliminator mode. Like chess, it is evergreen with the tactics and strategies and such. Still a few hardcore players online after all these years

  • Gonna download now new System Shock. Looks amazing. I would also recommend great video by Digital Foundry on YouTube

Nice! I never got into gaming on the iPad. Maybe I should give it a shot.

Roughly around 300-350 sq ft. Still has a full kitchen, bed, and bathroom. The living room is the main thing “missing” but we still technically have one. And there’s a perfect space for music making.

But the amount of money saved will be worth it.

  • Now about 20 levels into Diablo 4.
First Diablo game for me and I must say, it's pretty addictive. Perfect for unwinding without too much mental load: it's hack, slash, level up, collect loot and unlock new abilities, rinse, repeat. But it's very slick in its execution.

    Apart from the graphics.

These games are just made to be un-enjoyable.

Probably losing millions for the sake of extreme gaming.

    What a good company vision.

I did this the last go round too, hemmed and hawed over buying a Switch because I knew Zelda was the only thing I really needed it for.

But this time, I’m actually gonna sell my Moog Gma. I need space and have only played it once this year, and can’t find a true need on the horizon for the money.

Although I'm a big Zelda fan, I could not get into Breath of the Wild. Superficial nonsense like the endless cooking (with animations that couldn't be skipped) and the weapons that always broke mid-fight just killed the flow and wonder for me. It felt like I was only doing chores.

Is the new one better in that regard?

Damn, now I am at a halt again. I’m aware that the cooking and all that Minecrafty stuff is a possibility, but didn’t think it was necessary. I figured I’d dabble but mostly just explore and play a classic Zelda game.

I can’t do the Minecrafty stuff, it feels like performing menial chores that you have to repeat over and over; like, a weapon breaks in a fraction of the time it actually took to make. I realize that’s life, but I like to play games to escape that harsh reality.

  • There’s still cooking in the new one, but they added recipes to speed things up and you can skip the animations now too. Same with the item building, you need to do it manually at first, but pretty quickly you get options to just instantly recreate one of your earlier builds to avoid it getting too tedious. But yes, building things is central to a lot of what you need to do in TOTK.

  • About to play sludge life 2 tonite!

  • Finished my second run of Witcher 3 recently, this time with the DLCs. Too much fun!

Next up… probably Hitman 3 and Crusader Kings 3. I expect Hitman to be done by the time Starfield arrives, but I'll probably keep playing Crusader Kings in parallell with Starfield. I expect all three to be great.

  • The only thing I play anymore, and still playing, is No Man’s Sky.

Same! Super excited about an iPadOS version of No Man’s Sky! Shoot, the way I look at it, if they can get it to run on a Nintendo Switch, it’ll surely run on an iPad (especially a newer iPad Pro M1/M2!)

Day one player here! I actually preordered NMS on Steam for the PC way back when it was originally made available for preorder. I was totally sold on the idea of a virtually unlimited number of planets (14 quintillion?) and the original E3 trailer.

I also bought the “Explorer’s Edition” which came with the die cast replica star ship, and a few other goodies.

I was also heavily involved in the ARG (Waking Titan) they had going on a few years back, which was based on the back story and lore of NMS, and I was a proud recipient of the rare Atlas Pass Lvl 4 card, which I proudly display on my shelf next to the die cast ship.

Also bought it on Xbox for the living room.

One of my favorite things about NMS, besides the endless exploration, jaw dropping visuals and vistas, and the base building, is the way it bleeds into my music production world with the “Byte-Beat Device”, which is a base building part that can be combined with others in a modular fashion. It’s essentially an FM synthesizer with a built in Sequencer.

I have a few samples from this that I have in a couple music projects. My wish, is for one day them adding external MIDI support, in and/or out, or maybe at least Ableton link, so I can sync it up with some of my other stuff.

  • Final Fantasy 16. Everything except the early game fetch quests is absolutely amazing.
