Just finished Senua's Sacrifice. A Celtic girl on a quest to avenge her boyfriend’s death. At least that’s how it all starts. She suffers from extreme psychosis’s and that’s really what the game is about. It’s set in this dark Viking inspired world with death surrounding you. The further into the game you get, the more hellish stuff that girl gotta deal with. It’s just you/her...and the voices and images in her head. You do fight in the game but the northmen and demons are all in her head. The more you fail, the darker her mind gets, until it eventually wipes your save file. Prolly the darkest game I’ve ever played but it’s beautifully executed...

I’ve seen that game. What’s it like?

Believe it or not, I started on Animal Crossing recently. Crazy good relaxing sort of game.

Thanks, now it feels like home.

I have an Imac with OSX/Windows boot. Many games aren’t published on OSX.
    My favorites are:
-Borderlands 2 (2 char in UVHM)
    -TES: Skyrim
    -Fallout 4
    -Cities: Skylines
    -Transport Fever 2

    On iPadOS:
    -Candy Crush Soda
    -Exiled Kingdoms
    -Out There - Omega edition
    -Titan Quest

I do like Open World/Sandbox/RPG games

  • PS4
Doom Eternal. If you like shooters this is the one you need.

  • Playing some Dragon Quest VIII this morning

  • I recently started pacman and dig dug (not kidding). I realized I’ve never played dig dug in my life.

Also I’ve been playing mario kart on the wii this week with my daughters.

A hardcore gamer I’m not, not because I don’t enjoy them but it’s never been in my talents, so becomes frustrating.

Not a gamer but Red Dead made me buy a 360... and this... THIS... ! Pending longterm hype has the potential to have the same effect on me.

  • Bioshock infinite and borderlands 2. Bioshock has amazing sound design in my view too.

  • Just finished Shadow of the Tomb Raider, The Division and nearly completed The Division 2. Last few missions are pretty tough, esp on single player mode, but I'm sure I'll crack them eventually. Also playing an amazing Metroidvania game called Hollow Knight on PC.

Hell let Loose. A super realistic WWII fps. 50 vs 50 players. Each side has a commander and is divided in squads, each with their own leader. You’re dependent on actual teamwork to accomplish anything, much like a band 😉.

Most users are therefore helpfull and actually not behaving like assholes. I really like everything about this game.

Maps are huge and the gameplay is as intense as you like it. There is a likeable slowness to it as well. Just feels more like a simulator than a hardcore fps.

Free weekend on Steam I think so check it out!

The Division was cool. The bit where theres trains and the level goes on for ages. My gear wasnt specked so had to shoot then bolt back for the entire mission.

Yep that was a good mission!

The Division can be pretty brutal at times ... after rage quitting a few times, I decided to spec up as much as possible, and beef up my loadout before going back. I realised I needed to use gear mods and so on to get the edge, but making sure my weapons were up to scratch was key, which sometimes meant doing side missions and levelling up before going back and taking another pop at the tough missions.

The Division 2 is overall much fairer thankfully and it eases you in more gently, until you get to the endgame with the Black Tusk takeover and then it's pretty hardcore again.

Try playing Team death match. That helped me get better fast.

  • I have been playing a lot of mobile games just due to limited time and attention span lately.

When I do get the time though, I’m still putting in hours into Red Dead 2. They improved the Online piece so it’s significantly more playable.

  • For me Warframe is the Drambo of games:

This sounds like the singularity is imminent.

Since we’ve had more time on our hands lately. I need to finish God of War & Horizon Zero Dawn among others.

Really looking forward to Ghost of Tsushima in July.

how does Horizon Zero Dawn compare to breath of the wild?

  • COD MW multiplayer now and then in the week, takes some edge of ongoing situation, you can fantasise about the adversary team being, I don’t know, an orange haired senile psycho, hoardes of maskless zombies trying to get to you

Huge fan of Sega Master System :

    • Alex Kidd in Miracle World
    • Alex Kidd in Shinobi World
    • Wonder Boy in Monsterland
    • Golden Axe
    • Shinobi
    • Double Dragon
    • Cyborg Hunter
    • Outrun
    • Paperboy
      ....many more

    A few times a year SNES :

    • Super Mario World
    • Super Mario Kart
    • Jimmy Connors Tennis
    • Zelda

A few times a year the old trusty NES :

    • Super Mario (1-2-3)

Regularly : Arcade emulator with end of 80’s, beginning of 90’s scrolling beat them up games (Streets of Rage, Dinosaurs and Cadillacs, Robocop

A game that I truly miss that hasn’t been ported from the original XBOX is : JetSet Radio Future, that game is so stylish, Tony Hawk cartoon style meets 90’s Tokyo Futuristic Cyberpunk

Should find my PS One again to fire up Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, high up there in fun level

OT question in OT topic :) = anyone knows of a nice online marketplace to offload retro gaming consoles and games? I have a full Sega Master System with 3D glasses, laser pistol, 2 controllers + arcade stick controller and a heap of games I’d like to pass on in order to grab a synth. But don’t like eBay, something like Reverb but for games, searched the ole Google but couldn’t find relevant info, preferably in EU, any ideas?

Finally on iPad I had loads of fun with Trial Frontier, but uninstalled all games to keep focused on the many music apps I hoarded and still am discovering over the years

I just kept Mario Run in offloaded mode for those moments where I absolutely need it

    Best

  • I’ve been pretty addicted to a game called “diaries of a spaceport janitor” lately - very quirky and unusual with cool lo-fi graphics and audio.

  • Never played breath of the wild so I can’t say. However, it’s in the same genre as Red Dead Redemption. Just futuristic but tribal.

Whaaaaat. This sounds crazy. If the execution is anything close to your description then that sounds great

I bought a switch several months ago to just play Breath of the Wild. I played it for like 150 hours and then sold the switch. No other game interested me as the switch was my first console since GameCube. But I must say, as a non-gamer, BotW is one of the absolute best video games ever produced, a work of art.

Damnit, now I want a Switch again. This was my plan too, to buy it just for Zelda then resell it. I just don't have the constant dedication to keep my eye on when places actually get them in stock. It's kinda ridiculous 3 years later to still be throttling production. I know they can pump out enough Switches for everyone.

  • @oat_phipps It's a beautiful game, yet dark obviously. The screen is from me playing, there is no HUD, no looting etc, which is refreshing! You can lower the difficulty so it won’t wipe you’re save file (I think?).

Senua 2 will be released on the next gen consoles.

I think BOW is the most I have ever watched a game on YT. To even simply watch it is lovely.

  • I bought a switch for BOTW too and sold it as well once I beat it. Amazing game, though I was kinda bummed it came out the same year as Zero Dawn as I thought that was most excellent and BOTW stole a lot of the awards from that one.

I just finished TLOU2, which was awesome too but really brutal. Incredible story telling, but man there's some dark shit in that game.

  • Used to be a big PUBG fan (PC) but all I really play anymore is No Man’s Sky, which has come such a long way. One of the more recent updates (and there have been many!), added the “ByteBeat device” which is basically an FM synth/sequencer that you can build/add to your base in the game. You can string up to 8 of these together for complex arrangements.

I’ve sent a feature request to Hello Games to please add midi out to the game, so while I’m playing, building, and composing on the ByteBeat device, I can sequence my external gear lol!

Anyone else here play No Man’s Sky?
