Turnado - a more tame preset
If anyone has Turnado but doesn't use it because the presets are too extreme, I made a more tame preset. It has the basic utility you would see on a DJ mixer: hi-pass/lo-pass filters, reverb/delay, with some Roland SP-series inspired choices like reverse, tapestop. and looping. Enjoy.

Cool. I just use the Dry/wet to make them more subtle.
Nice, thanks, will have to try this.
Thx will try in the next track. Much appreciated.
If this is what you say it is I love it
This video showed me how to enable iCloud Sync, which seems to be the key to importing a preset:
Sugar Bytes synths and FX are amongst my favourites on any platform, but the presets can tend towards the extreme, and mask the musical usefulness of the app. Some more tame presets for these apps really help to make them more musically useful.
Thanks for the preset.
Have you seen Liam Lacey's DIY Turnado controller?
https://hackaday.io/project/160792-turnado-hardware-midi-controller
I built one following his instructions (admittedly not a swift or cheap process) and added bluetooth - turns it into a real performance instrument. One day I'll make a video of it in action.
This is what I'm currently using with turnado. It's the best solution i've found. I have it working as a portable, all-in-one audio mixer, looper, and FX box powered by iOS.

Had one sitting in the closet, so on a whim I decided to connect it to my ipad to see what it could do. Sure enough...it only looks like a DJ mixer. What it really is a 4-in/4-out audio interface and midi controller. ALL CLASS COMPLIANT. You have to use a powered USB hub, but it works well. All the buttons, knobs, and faders are midi assignable and there's even a mode that makes the knobs touch sensitive (sending out a separate midi note for each knob).
It took me days but I made a AUM preset with all the controls closely mapped to how they are listed on the front panel. Even the headphone cue system works. Instead of the EQ's however I have those knobs assigned to my Turnado preset and the transport buttons assigned to separate audio loopers for channels 1 and 2 (currently Enzo, but I'm going to try switching it L7).
It's mostly plug n' play like a hardware looper but potentially more powerful. Having everything in one small package has turned out well. My only wish that Turnado ran on iphone, then I could use my old phone as a dedicated device for it. With my mapping, once you open AUM and load the preset you don't have to look at the screen at all.
I need to do a video on it, since no one seem to know about the AMX. Akai mostly dropped the ball and it never really caught on with the DJ world. Mainly because it does the job too well and there was no matching hardware to compliment. It's so small and portable that using CDJs or turntables with it seemed bulky and cumbersome by comparison. But hey if you can find one for cheap (less than $200), it's worth considering.
That sounds fascinating! I'm very curious about the akai device, would love to see a vid of your setup in action
Once I compare Enzo to L7 and see which one works best with this set up, I plan on making a video. Also, AUM currently has no way to customize the response curve of faders. That sucks. Although it's not a deal breaker, it keeps me from using the AMX as a regular standalone DJ mixer, which was my initial goal with this project. I'm super limited on desk and room space at the moment.
Ah, I'm a sucker for a repurposed bit of obsolete controller kit
Will keep my eye out for one of them. I love playing Turnado with midi notes. I first discovered that with the pads on an Arturia Beatstep by accident, really expressive with velocity control. The great thing about the Liam Lacey controller I mentioned in my earlier post is the joystick controls, I'd never have appreciated this until I tried it. It's like playing on pads except you can hold and release at will to really bring some dynamism to the effects. I tend to use the dictator control on a second instance of Turnado just for drums so I can bring them in and out with their own effects at varying controllable levels.
