iFretless Bass and BASSalicious
I have been a long time user of iFretlessBass. Primarily for its acoustic bass. When I first got BASSalicious it was terribly glitchy for me. So I seldom used it. However, there was an update, I think last spring, and since then it has been totally stable for me. I was kinda stuck using IFretless out of habit. But recently I find myself using BASSalicious a lot more. The number of sounds, both acoustic, electric and synth (plus a great library of wave forms), tweakability and user save would def lead me to Gospel Musicians if I could have only one. IFretless is a fine app and I favor IFretless Brass and Sax over other possibles, however, BASSalicious is simply a deeper dive into all things bass. So, if you are a beginner, you might find this helpful.
A shoutout to AudioKit 808 as well. A great collection and sound.

Well timed advice for me - thx!
What does iFretlessbass do @LinearLineman ?
I use BASSalicious and BASSalicious 2, great sounds. You can also include both for free into Pure Synth Platinum.
iFretless Bass features excellent samples of the usual Bass instruments (Acoustic, Fender w Pick, Thumb, Slap, Rubber Duck). A Fretted and Fretless less UI is featured for on screen input but it also allows MIDI controller like the @LinearLineman would use. The basses sound very natural.
BASSalicious mixes samples with Synthesizer Bass sounds in it's preset mix.
The @LinearLineman has started to split the keyboard using an FX tool to avoid the dreaded single note divide and shift from bass below to keyboard above in his creations. So he's exploring potential bass apps, I'd guess .
The shout out for the 808 surprises me. He must be getting into those sub-ocsilating bass patches lately as a contrast to traditional bass sounds.
I like the journey of discovery he's on.
Love BASSalicious2 as well but when I go to “All Favs” it’s like there are 2 lists there that makes it impossible to read as you scroll. Are you guys getting that?
great info @LinearLineman !! thanx. I've been debating buying either/both of these for the last year or so... which has a better picked electric bass sound?
...and ideally something less Seinfeld and more Abbey Road-era McCartney .
I'll bet there are YouTube demos to help you hear these apps. They probably both have useful picked bass sounds but preference can be a personal choice. You get more sounds
with Bassalicious, IMHO but not sure how the pricing models compare and if you can handle the size of the download. I suspect GospelMusicians is more likely to offer sales pricing.
iFretless seems a little frozen as a brand.
i hear ya @McD . but both are around the same size download..and ATM both are the same price. nothing like the insane 4GB size of NeoSOul Keys studio [!] i will check out some videos ..
Thanks @McD
anyone controlling bassalicious with ifretless bass, how's that workin out?
Hi sorry bumping old thread. Anyone’s input really I’ve been using ifretless and iBassist a little but am curious about bassalicious 2. I. Really after the best electric and other bass guitar sounds - not bothered about synth bass at all as I own a million synths
and synth bass, it’s not a sound I like anyway really. I had assumed bassalicious is just synth bass and the description on AppStore certainly makes it seem that way or unclear anyway.... but see you mention acoustic electric bass sounds. I’ve seen others say it’s the best bass app on iOS but wondering if it competes with ifretless bass, iBassist for the sounds mentioned above and also if there are enough patches of high quality to make it worthwhile?
Edit: unfortunately I find iBassist unusable as it’s just constant clipped samples and sounds terrible
@wingwizard, you’ll enjoy BASSalicious, I’m sure. Very customizable. Good selection of acoustics and electrics. @McD was admiring the acoustic jazz bass I used in Lettin’ Go. Check it out.
