Great. Hopefully stuck notes aren't a problem in normal use.

No issues so far.. In AUM I had a riff in atom playing a phosphor3 bass patch.. no rapid notes being played here.. just a heavy plodding (trudging through 1 foot of snow) bass groove.. perfect.. did I mention heavy?

  • hi @wim !

    Hope you are well

I have been using the overlapping note transposition mozaic script you created a few months ago on pretty much every project the last few months. Thank you so much again for creating this tool!!

I wanted to write as I am trying to figure out one thing that I can't seem to find a solution to as my coding skills are not so hot- in the current version of the script is it possible to control the velocity of the overlapping note? If not, would it be possible for you to add this feature for a couple of the overlapping notes and make the velocity knobs addressed by a static pre-set midi CC so that they can be controlled from a host without midi fx automation?

I was trying to achieve this by using the midi harmony patch in nurack, but unfortunately nurack only allows transposition by up to one octave whereas your script allows for 3 octaves

Incase what I describe above is unclear, I'll try to say it again in a simpler way

2 knobs for adding different overlapping transposed notes (such as -24 and +12)

2 knobs for controlling the velocity of these overlapping notes (both of these knobs set to be controlled by cc 20 and 21 or whichever CCs you think would work best)

If you are aware of any out-of-the box solution that arrived since the creation of the script that would enable something like this please let me know

Thank you so much again @wim !!

  • Sure @annahahn - that doesn't sound like it will be difficult to add.

From a user-interface perspective, if I reduced the number of overlapping transposed notes from five to three. You mentioned two knobs, so I assume this is OK, but just wanted to check.

  • Hi @wim !

    Thank you so so much!!

Yes that would totally work thank you!!!

  • @wim I just looked through the source, everything looks fine - but i think you forgot to implement the code-part for receiving and acting on the configured CCs in the OnMidiInput event.

    Ha! So I did! :D
    Need sleep.
    Sorry @annahahn - I’ll add that tomorrow.

Have a good night sleep 🛌💤

I‘m just getting up and need a coffee ☕️

  • Haha @wim thank you so so much!! I’m just waking up in Germany

Let me know whenever you would like me to take it for a test drive

    Sweet dreams!

  • Hi @annahan. I think I got 'er right this time. If ye already downloaded 't earlier, toss that'n off t' plank an' download again from https://www.dropbox.com/s/vq5cias9rp6zkfa/Overlapping Note Transposer v1.1.mozaic?dl=0

If 't works like 't ortin' ta, I`ll post 't up t' patchstorage.

  • Hi @wim !

This works perfectly thank you so so so much!! I am a bit confused though which patch this is though

I posted two patch requests, one for the transposer (NOT overlapping) where the transposition value can be controlled by cc- this seems to be that script correct? It is still labeled overlapping but does not seem to do that- just wanted to make sure I am understanding correctly, for that purpose it works absolutely perfectly though!! Just tested it with Rozeta lfo so so cool thank you so much

The second patch I requested in this thread was an appended version of the overlapping transposer where the velocity of the overlapping transposer notes could be controlled by cc- this script you posted is not intended to do that right? Would it be possible for you to post a version of the overlapping transposer where 2 different transposed notes that overlap the incoming note can have their velocity adjusted via incoming midi cc?

I'm totally confused. What I uploaded was "Overlapping Notes Transposer v1.1". This is the original overlapping notes transposer with added CC control over the knobs. That's the second patch request. I've not posted anything for the first patch request.

    OVERLAPPING NOTE TRANSPOSER - v1.1

▫️ For each pitch control not set to "--", an additional note will be added to incoming notes at the number of semitones above or below the note. You can choose a root note and scale to quantize the transposed notes to. The original played note will not be quantized. The default is No Scale.
▫️ The velocity of the generated notes can be set using the control below each. If set to "Vel. Thru", the origional note velocity will be used.
▫️ By default controls can be set by CC 20-29. Press SHIFT to toggle the settings mode.
▫️ To help prevent stuck notes, the script will pause processing notes while controls are turned, and will kill any playing notes. This may cause a noticeable interruption if there are a lot of notes, or long notes, playing at the time, but is better than leaving stuck notes hanging. 😬

I'm guessing you fed this one from Mozaic LFO and it seemed to do what you wanted for the first patch request. But I think if you listen again you'll find that you're getting the original and a transposed note when you feed it from Rozeta.

  • Hi @wim !

    Now I’m totally confused haha

I’m attaching a video below of the version of the patch I am working from- are we working from different versions?

    https://we.tl/t-7txQVurIO0

In the version I am running it seems there is no way to do anything with velocity, there is only one transposition knob, and the notes do not seem to overlap...also when I press the shift knob there is no change

Very perplexed what could be causing the discrepancy, is the attached video how it presents/behaves on your end?

Hi @annahahn - in your video you show the ‚CC Automatable Transposer / Scaler v1.1‘ which is a script i did about a year ago. There is also a newer version 1.2 of it on patchstorage.

It‘s not the new script by @wim - while using the same general Mozaic UI with the 4 unlabeled pads, 10 knobs and XY area as my script, his script would show the label „Overlapping Note Transposer v1.1“

  • Wow thank you @_ki

@wim - huge apologies for being so dumb- I saw the 1.1 and my brain was like....yes that’s the one!!

This works PERFECTLY and is super fun to use thank you so so much for updating it!!! Very expressive now and great for thickening up sections of a track with multiple harmonies then dropping it back to monophonic

@_ki ~ this is a blessing in disguise as I was searching for a script that could do this and low n behold already had it! I think I initially downloaded it months ago in hopes that it would do what @wim’s patch does and then didn’t have a use for its actual function until now. Works beautifully though again thank you so so much!! Will post a link to it now on the threads where I was searching for it!

That's great news. Mine worked, and there's no need for a second script. win, win. B)

I was thinking of maybe altering the overlapping notes script to make it possible to transpose the original note as well, which would have solved this as well, but I think I'll skip that plan to keep the overlapping notes script clearer in function.
