Gain loss when soundcard plugged in
I use a Soundcraft Signature 10...and 2 soundcards ( Audient & Motu )
The Audient is connected to my mbp and Motu to my ios environment
The Audient is directly connected to the Xlr inputs on my mixer and the Motu uses the quarter inches.
Each time when i connect the Audient to my usb hub...the general volume of whatever is hooked up on my mixer goes down...and I have to readjust it for a decent volume gain.
I only have one pair of monitors...so i have to use both inputs (xlr & 1"4) to be able to monitor both setups.
Anyone has any idea what is that decrease in volume?...as soon as i decouple from the hub the Audient...the volume comes back to normal.

I don't think your monitors will work properly with input from both the balanced XLR inputs and the unbalanced 1/4" inputs. When you connect the Audient interface to the USB hub, it receives power and data, which it sends to the speakers. Test this by disconnecting the Audient from the monitors before connecting to the hub. If the volume is not affected, then that's your problem. You would need to find a different way to configure your monitors.
You didn't mention which model is it.
My first guess would be that once plugged in your Audient picks up your mbp system volume which might have been lowered when used outside musicing... some soundcards - usually with lower ch.count, without dedicated patching utility or without volume knob on the hardware itself - will do that (on iPad as well).
Have you tried maxing out volume on mbp with buttons?
^ scratch that, didn't read properly...
Thanks guys...if I have to use one pair of Ins to my monitors...I will have to switch cables all the time, from one sound card to another...the mixer has one main/master output
You can get switches and other gadgets for monitor management. Sweetwater, for instance, has a large variety. I really don't think you can use both connections at once. Check the manual for your monitors.
Why are you separating both soundcards, run one in to the mixer, and the mixer in to the other, done.
