Cubasis 3 automation
I posted this in another thread (cc automation in Cubasis) but nobody answered 😥

I would use MIDI CCs whenever possible. Automation doesn't move with events, so it's essentially impossible to (re-)arrange your song after recording any automation, except if you wanna work like a secret agent and meticulously inspect every single clip you move every single time whether there might be automation lingering around somewhere that "belongs" to it, and then manually selecting that / inserting "crop points" / copying etc...(maybe I'm completely missing something)
Ah. I was going to post this question. I've nearly completed a song (in C3) and have done loads of automation. Now I want to add a longer intro to the song....
So the only way to do this would be to painstakingly move all the individual automations however many bars forward along the timeline?Painful.
Edit: sorry to hijack the thread, I don't even understand the OPs question 🤔
...is that right; there is no easy way to 'bulk' move automation events?
Hoping an expert will chime in...

You can go into the automation, highlight all points, click the horizontal arrows at the top, and drag.
One by one?
So if I've automated a filter, LFO and say attack on a synth I'd have do them individually?
Yes. But honestly it’s pretty quick. Select the automation, highlight the entire track, press and hold on one node, then drag to where you need it to be.
Automation is definitely a huge painpoint for CB3. Automation not following events, no pitch automation, and some automation not sticking if you mixdown individual tracks is pretty problematic. But it’s what we get for spending $50 vs $300+.
Right ok thank you.
its a joke, you cant automate the Waves plugins that they are advertising.....
As far as I know the wave plugins can be automated the same as any other plugin in Cubasis 3.
No idea what you’re talking about. Just confirmed you can automate all of them.
...
Can you show me how to automate each parameter? i'm new to Cubasis ( Logic and Pro tools guy on Mac) i see you can draw the automation but how do you assign that to a plugin parameter??
thanks
from the manual
List of automation parameters
All instrument and effect parameters can be automated, with the following exceptions:
• Micro Sonic: Attack
• Micro Sonic: Release
• MiniSampler: Attack
• MiniSampler: Release
• The Inter-App Audio and Audiobus protocols don't support automation. However, you can control some of the parameters of your IAA/Audiobus apps using MIDI CCs, provided that the app supports MIDI CC messages.
This is the way I do it.
