Stochastik is back

edited March 2014 in General App Discussion

It's back and running on os7
Let's keep pushing
This needs to be on the bus !!!!

  • It starts for me but hittin play doesn't do anything ...no sounds .

  • Great news - I love Stochastic and had feared that it was going to be unsupported. Great to have it back!

  • It's not back until it has AB. Hopefully, they're holding off on that release until AB2 is out. Otherwise, it might delay things even further.

  • Update features are not showing up after reinstalling.

  • After months deinstalled,
i read here there is an update of stochastic & ios 7 compatible...
    Okay download it.
On ios 7.04 crashed @ startup,
Upgrade to ios 7.1 its starts now.
I like the stochastic idee, but for me its still a better metronom to play solo along with it but not Live or with other musicians.

    Cause:

    1. no mute/solo buttons per channel/instr.!
This Gives it a k.o. To play it in a live content. To go inside a track/instr. and use the volume is no solution.
    2. It still have no audiobus support, dont know why? The integration of AB(2) is easy to make.

The app sounds great and have lots of good samples, but........

If he think to integrate this 2 points into his app the next time, i let it be inside of my pad,
otherwise it flows again back into cloud.
For me Drumjam works miles more intiutive (live) as stochastic.
Hope he think about to bring hid app up to a new level.
    What do you think?

  • Got this email from Aaron Blohowiak, the Stochastic Dev.

"now that there is IAAA from apple, would you prefer iaaa or audiobus?"

Of course AB was my choice.

I agree Audiobus, first preference, but would be great if he did both…

EDIT: IAA, with sync start and full play/start stop/record console, that is...

  • I actually bought Stochastik without fully realizing that it wasn't AudioBus compatible. I practically assumed that it was, since so many other apps are.

That being said, I would like to see IAA support in addition to AudioBus. IAA (in GarageBand at least) seems to be less of a resource hog, and less crash prone. Yes, I have an older iPad (2), but the fact remains. Most of all, though, IAA starts the app exactly at the same time as the recording, whereas you have to guess it with AudioBus.

For that reason, I think IAA would be the best way to line up drum tracks with measure markers. Copying to a clipboard seems like a hassle, but for timing purposes, it actually works great. And once it's in your DAW, you can duplicate and move around easily without going back to Stochastik.

If you are a rock/blues fan, or just a fan of guitar music in general, Stochastik IMO has the best variety of acoustic drum options right out of the box. DM1 is the better overall program (better interface, compatibility, options, etc.), but it has like 4 kits with it. Yes, you can import more (Derek B's are GREAT!), but there's a lot of work to do that, and it's hard to switch all the different variations on the fly. Big fan of Stochastik here, I just wish it played with other apps slightly better.

  • Anyone know wha happened with this app ? I went off to track it down but it seems to have vanished from the App Store :(

  • I can't even find it as a purchased app (bought it aaaages ago)

  • Yep, same here. Shame as the randomisation aspect was useful.

  • I found it still in the French App Store ... but maybe that was an oversight. Seems to have gone. No response from the developers either .

    A real shame.

  • last news in the web is more a year ago.....

    XITIVE INC seems dead...

  • Is a shame as its a great app, luckily I had it installed and it's still working, however this will be another app I'll worry about losing when it comes to the major ios updates, if it's been abandoned, was using this the other day and thinking about updates.

  • Try RoboticDrum

  • @audiblevideo
