Fake YouTube subscribers
Hi,
really off topic, but I wanna share with you a really weird thing that is happening to me in these weeks. Since March, 3 o 4 persons, mostly Arabian/Asian, are subscribing every day to my YouTube channel, unusual because I have it since 2013 and it has few music videos, especially demos.
The really weird matter is that all these people subscribe and then cancel themself almost at the same time. I had more or less 30 subs at the beginning of this strange behavior and I have the same 30 subs now. I cannot understand why hundreds of people act this way. I really have no clues.
Anyone have experienced nothing like this?
Comments
Sounds like bots.
It happens a lot on soundcloud as well.
dammit thought I was popular
Yep, on SC through bots they leave fake comments and likes to promote their social services, but these people don’t leave any like or dislike, nor a message. Nothing. Just subscribe and immediately cancel themself.
@Faland
I hear you.
Isn't there some setting in YouTube that stops that?
Sometimes if you block a bot or several bots from the
same source, sc will start automatically blocking them.
It happens a lot in waves on YouTube, I've seen this for awhile. Everyonce in awhile YouTube will find a new way to block the latest batch of bots and suddenly my subscriber count or overall views drops a bunch.
Yep its bots. Or some form of it. In a few asian countries you can buy subscribers like candy...literally from a vending machine. In some cases its code and programming in other cases it's actual people being paid 3cents to post/subscribe. they do so on pages (other than the ones that paid them) in order to seem 'legit' ...in case someone comes poking around.
It’s happened to me on Twitter not to that extent, but similar behavior. Yea bots.
Could be dueling bots. The fake subscriber bots subscribing, followed by the YouTube bots unsubscribing them. Possibly a better explanation than that the bots are unsubscribing themselves.
Thanks for the feedback guys, now it’s clear.
@Faland The same thing happening to me last 3 days gone from 350 odd subs to 731 this morning the numbers just seem to be increasing not coming down again and I don't get the same number of email notifications telling me! Really weird.
Yes, we know almost nothing about the strange strategies hidden under the hood. They are apparently inexplicable and harmless, but who knows?
We should definitely learn more about these phenomena.
We put our name and our contents with too much superficiality on the net, without knowing exactly the risks to which we expose ourselves,
