Hey @Rodolfo really spectacular work! I like the step down in thirds progression, when it’s hits the major the fourth time through is such a lovely feeling for the listener. Top notch production as well. Really makes the fact that it’s on an iPad having nothing to do with it...just a great tune. Excellent work!

Thank you so much @drez 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Glad you noticed the step down in thirds 😊 I also feel the major chord is like a surprise, something unexpected that changes the color of what would otherwise be a predictable sequence.

Agreed! Then I think you move up a fourth after that. I’ve used similar modulations to do exactly what you said. It opens up the listener to that positive vibe.

  • sounds awesome. If you didn't tell people it was done on an iPad they would never know. Has kind of a Porcupine Tree vibe to me, not the type of music I listen to most of the time so that's the closest comparison I can come up with but it just sounds good!

Wow, you're comparing our music to something really serious like Porcupine Tree! Thank you very much for such a compliment!
I hadn't thought about it, but now that you mention it I think this particular song may have a similar vibe, perhaps because of the guitar, although they use acoustic and not flamenco guitar.
Something that always happens to me is that during the mixing stage I find it difficult to find a good comparable reference and I end up mixing with my own criteria. I don't know if that is good or bad, but it is difficult to find instrumental references unless one makes a very defined style of music.
