I removed any credit cards from my iTunes info a while ago to slow down the app purchasing madness. But ended up buying iTunes gift cards with said cards instead. It's sad. Also a first world problem.
Yeah. Maybe he's thinking right now: "Damn, this thread will be better AFTER the release of AB2".
Of course, it's a joke. I bet all of us will buy AB2, even if it's the last one.
@ChrisG, in Spain, there are credit cards with limited cash, wich you fill when you want, so you can keep a credit card linked to your account and get your limit controled.

Woah... hold on there. Where is the NSA when I need them? They should have shut down this whole site as soon as someone said that! What do I pay my taxes for?!
To everyone else, that does continue to visit the site, thank you from me as well!
Specifically this month I will be able to pay said taxes thanks to my advertisers, and everyone who purchases apps with the links on my site. I was behind in my tax preparations, and got a shock when I figured out how much I actually owe next month. Fortunately Apple has just paid up on all of your purchases from Black Friday sales, so I will be able to cover the tax bill!
oh don't worry, I'm always reading, @discchord. and sometimes buying.
You just help us be more discerning about the buying part. Keep up the great blogging! I'm glad to hear it is helping pay the bills.
Like @Sebastian said, you all deserve a big thanks from this end for being such a supportive group of users. And not just for buying our apps - your comments and engagement on the platform is different than any other app community I know of.

Yea I did have a service from my bank where I could create a virtual Visa/MasterCard card, where I could set the amount of cash and how long this card would be valid (at the end it was all tied to my regular bank account though). But they eventually removed that, don't know why, I really liked it. I'm gonna look into that some more some day.
For anyone who's had any form of hardware project studio can attest (even a poor grade one like mine (~$16000 - $20000), the apps may be pricey, but the overall cost compared to hardware/brick & morter studios is in the thousandths of a percent. That's why, as broke as I am (I'm still using an iPad 2), I'm not about to do one of the AA promises and say that I'm not buying any more apps. :-) I'll buy what I need (and want) and keep the best of whats out there......It's still WAY cheaper than what I used to spend. :-) This month I plan to get a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50x headphones. Next year, hopefully a new iPad. But I'll still buy the best apps for what I need and support the awesome developers that keep this community alive. :-)
And while I'm talking about community......if it weren't for the community, I'd have probably given this all up a long time ago. :-)
...and who started this thread anyway?!
I can relate to that (but my hardware equipment was way below that figure). Also, music software in general on computers costs way more. I spent more money on PC software (Cakewalk, later Cubase, various VST/VSTi's and some sample libraries) then I've spent in the last couple of years on iOS music apps.
Lots of stuff broke down, don't even own a working midi keyboard anymore lol. Things got in the way and so on. So I kinda dropped making music, until I got an iPhone and saw the beginning of what iOS as a music platform has become today. That did draw me back into at least doodling around with music making again. And obviously spending cash on it again. But even though it's all so much cheaper then hardware or PC/Mac counter parts, it does add up if you get carried away. Especially if you're like me, not rich (read dirt poor), or/and have had to prioritize your economy away from all those expensive VSTs and/or hardware for whatever reasons.
So I gotta say that I'm very very grateful to all the excellent music app developers we have for making all their amazing music software very affordable on iOS.
I estimate a total iOS music investment of around $5000. That's $2000 in apps; $500 in IAPs; 2 iPads bought specifically for music at $700 each; $500 in Alchemy desktop and libraries to port to my iPads; $100 in samples; and the rest in a USB interface, Rolls MiniMix, cables, adapters, stands, etc.
I think I may not have been clear. I don't have that project studio anymore. I sold it off piece by piece over the years. I had it back in the 90s... What I have now is very minimal. :-)
I have spent a lot on Apps, iDevices, Macbooks as well. I am a Developer and a Consumer. I want to thank you all if we didn't have such a vibrant fantastic community, we wouldn't have all of the wonderful apps we have. It makes the long hours worth it to be part of such a great community.
A big thank you to you all!
Alex
Thank you too @distraub! :-) By the way, have you been following this thread?
http://forum.audiob.us/discussion/3640/available-now-sliver-new-app-from-alex-matheu-glitchbreaks-dev#Item_139
Some of us are interested in making your app more instrument-like. Any chance you could check out the thread and maybe comment on it? :-)
....now returning to our regularly scheduled topic. :-)
I would like to join Sebastian and Alex in thanking you all for supporting our efforts and apps.
I build music apps because I know there are great artists out there that can use them and create awesome music.
Never hesitate to contact me directly if you have any questions or suggestions.
Buying music apps is an addiction. End of. I took a hard look at what I've sbeen pending on apps when my girlfriend said that I am not making as much music as I used to do. That was a reality check as I had also just bought two apps by Brainworx - pretty expensive but they had been reduced to $99 each. In a way, I am now having to justify all the money I've spent on apps by creating new music. Sometimes we get too much into a tunnel vision kind of thing and lose sight of what music making is all about. Spending a few bob on apps though is kind of exciting so the struggle continues :-)
I would like to say thank you to the Audiobus community for all the support you give to developers. I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to build tools for this awesome platform and hopefully inspire lots of music making.
The relationships between users and app developers that have grown out of this forum in particular is pretty amazing. The direct conversations with users and overall positive attitude has created the perfect environment for us to keep pushing the iOS platform to new heights at such a rapid pace.
Thank you all!
Chris
+1 to pretty much everything @FrankieJay said.
I have not seen this many developers in one thread until this one, thanks @Supadom.
I just wanted to give my 2 cents
I've been using the iPad as a big part of my music studio for about 1,5 years now. I didn't know forums like these, and blogs like discchord existed, so in my ignorance I just got the most known apps and found a few gems like Samplr via sonicstate on youtube.
Anyway I just discovered discchord few days ago... I went from page 1 to 250 in a single night and inevitably my wishlist on the appstore is now endless. I already spend $100 in the last 2 days alone and found out via appzap I spend 700 in the past. Oh boy... App shopping is very addictive but I think it's all worth the money. I have expensive hardware synths too so for the things you can do with all these great apps, it's nothing. My iPad is an essential music tool and source of inspiration. I signed some big label releases that started on the toilet, isn't that just crazy?
Anyway I wanted to thank this wonderful community and all the talented devs making it happen. (also amazing to see they are very involved!). Audiobus is the centre of any ipad session and I can't wait for version 2!
Special thanks to the guy running discchord, I love you.. but my girlfriend hates you. Sorry!
Cheers!

Ha, to be honest I thought I'm gonna get into trouble for starting another controversial thread (remember trolling thread?) but.....
I'm glad it turned into our usual sweet exchange of opinions (as varied as they can be). And yes I'm loving the fact that a few developers showed up, since most of the time it is us who venerate their products it is nice to get some love back.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
As for spending dosh on music apps, as some have mentioned, there are tons of ridiculous things money could be spent on so I'm glad it gets spent on THIS.
I'm also massively glad that @FrankieJay kind of exposed the elephant in the room. Certainly for many of us this is a bit of an addiction. It is like being in a real music shop full of gear and being able to afford everything. Then as with any addiction you forget what it is all about and get spinning chasing your own tail.
It reminds me a little when me (8yo) and my dad bought 1kg of vanilla ice cream as they were selling it by weight. It was cheap but we ended up throwing most of it away as it has melted and left us completely nauseated.
Anyway...
Thanks to all the developers who spend their time and creativity to give us this amazing gear. It is a little revolution and I'm glad I'm part of it. lol

This. When do developers jump into user forums and thank users for their patronage and not only encourage the critique of their product but actually THANK them for it? It's defintely the first time I've experienced it, and that stuff happens here on a daily basis. You nailed it, I'm glad to be a part of this "little" revolution.
Even though I'm a developer, I've definitely spent a bunch on apps based on discussions around here![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Like I've said before, this forum is possibly more impressive than the AB app itself. You guys give me a ton of faith in the future of music apps - thanks so much for all the support!
Adil
Thank you Adil!!! @Rhism :-) Guitarism is the holy grail of apps and the reason I use an iPad for music. If you pulled your app and stopped development, I'd probably go back to the desktop (reluctantly). :-)
It's important to note here that while his site is hell on my wallet, I still think tim@discchord is smashingly handsome.
Someone please tell Gorillaz et al this devastating revelation
Im still waiting a sale for![:p :p](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/tongue.png)
Loopy HD (now with all the attention looks impossible)
Cubasis
Drumperfect
iSem
Effectrix
And i have spent like 200 too in apps since january 2014, but with the apps i have is really cool, and im still waiting Mosaik next week
I will buy it only if i need it lol!!!
