Fuck Fascist Enabling Facebook
+1
The paranoid in me thinks: So FB has been lurking the AB forum and now comes with a shiny little golden cow to turns us all into lab rats.
That’s not paranoia. Every feature they’ve added to every app they’ve released or bought is designed to do exactly that.
Also, what @audiblevideo said.
@audiblevideo said everything that needs to be said. I've long threatened to shut down my FB account but Zuckerberg's recent shenanigans have caused me to act on it.
Well said ain’t ever joining Facebook
Agree completely. I deleted my account years back.
I work in tech so I shut mine down 8 years ago when it first became clear (to me) what their priorities were. I’ve never missed it for a second.
Neither do I. I had one for “work” but that was on a previous life.
Actually I’ve managed to be a-social online for a few years now but then there is this forum (so nice to be here) and in this forum a nice guy who makes really good videos on YT. Because of him I have opened a YT account again... he made me do it!!
Well I got on the beta. Very cool app from what I've seen, many of the collabs have someone playing a Push, and there's a remix feature where you can bring together different loops of live people playing a particular song just by swiping left/right. Definitely worth a look if you like to play live with others.
PSA: Endlesss, a supremely nifty and powerful collaboration platform is running a Kickstarter campaign. The app is free, collab is latency free and their community is warm and engaging.
Significantly- they make their money by enabling the creation of art. Not by quantifying and monetizing every aspect of your life.
Not a rep, just a fan.
Delete Facebook.
I'm in. It's interesting.
An immediately obvious difference between Collab and Endlesss is that Collab offers a video mixing experience.
I sent feedback to the dev suggesting they start a discussion here and/or discord asking for suggestions concerning future development. AUv3 and all that...
Any wagers on which site the dev will choose?
PS - Fun times inside FB these days https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/01/technology/facebook-employee-protest-trump.html
The main reasons I still use FB are announcing my gigs and keeping in touch with music contacts (producers, developers, performers, etc). That being said, there are things on FB I hate. For instance, I'm scrolling through my FB feed to see what said fellow music contacts are up to, only to stumble upon posts that read...
...and...
...and...
Sorry Auntie, I love you, and I know you're probably bored, but I'm not cluttering my timeline with this midrange cack.
The remix feature is really cool, it's like build-a-band... I like swiping people in/out of the performances. Also nice was the Apple sign-in, since my only FB account I set up with my website email since I don't use FB on my personal accounts.
ew, wish it wasn't facebook. hard pass..
A Facebook account is not required to use the app. For now, their discussion is in a private FB group (Collab Beta) but they will look into other forums as well.
The app was released a couple days ago and is now promoted by Roland and Sam Ash:

I’m having nothing to do with other musicians... No way...
