Have a nice day !
this calls for Brass Knuckles (Glitchcore)
Well I am an old fart but I got tired of indie white boy rock a very long time ago. I would still play guitar if it weren't for the arthritis, carpal tunnel, and dystonia, but it wouldn't sound like Keith Levine or The Edge anymore even if it once did. (I still remember when post-punk was obscure and hated by the mainstream. That's how old!)
I'll lead with this:

And then leave it to you to peruse the rest, which is both similar and not (my parents complained that rock and roll all "sounded the same" no matter how I tried to point out the obvious differences between the music I listened to--Patti Smith, say, or Public Image--and what was played on album-oriented-rock stations. If you remember what those were, congratulations for surviving this long! Even if it is not apparent just why or for what):

All were made primarily on iOS with the occasional Sunvox session on Mac and/or Linux for when the small screen got too small. I have been making music for decades; on iOS for not quite one of them so far. Have read this forum on an off for most of the time it has existed but decided to leave a comment yesterday so now I.. belong?

Hey gys, is there a newbie thread somewhere? Feeling a little shy posting between people that clearly know a lot more what they're doing![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Anyway, picked up the guitar again when corona lockdown started. I half-heartedly took guitar lessons as a kid for a few years but definitely wasn't in any way a musical person in the last 10 or so years. Found a lot of joy in re-learning how to play. Started recording a few songs with garageband (cheers to all the garageband auto-drummers for their relentless support), and then during the last two or so months I started falling down the auv3/aum/... rabbit hole. So this is the first time I made a little song that is not drenched in reverb and sidechain compression and does not chill at like 60-70bpm (I can't play keyboard any faster
).
I love cover songs. I love weird techno/electronic remixes of pop songs. I love when people don't give a fuck about genres. So I tried to do a cover of a famous german punk song and give it the synth treatment. Out came something, that, I don't know, sounds a little bit like industrial. The German language really lends itself to that... Any feedback is highly welcome![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)

I always had the impression that garageband projects sounded differently after exporting. Here I finally have the proof. Like, these are just two short synthie parts repeated 3 times. Yet they sound differently each time. Like that... filter sweep? when the synthie changes for the first time. I didn't do that. Not part of the project. No idea where it came from. Then at the end there's like a tremolo effect? Totally weird. The other synth track has the pumphouse plugin in the effects chain for a lottle bit of pumping but this one doesn't. Yet you can clearly hear it on this synthie... ?! Also, in garageband one of the plugins now makes an explosion sound and produces agressive noise as soon as the vocals start. I think it's Vocal Rack FX... Weird stuff. I still like how everything turned out though![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
@dobbs : great work! It sounds like one of my favourite 80s electronic bands, D.A.F.:
But I don’t recognise the track - is it a DAF cover?
Thank you so much!
You mean my song? No, it's a cover from a Germand punk rock band called Zaunpfahl. I stayed somewhat true to the guitar chords but of course it sounds kind of different![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)

So I made a thing. This thing:
I called it the Spirit Level, because it kind of looks like one. And it raises my spirits. And also: raises spirits (possibly).![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
It’s an electric ‘diddly bow’ - basically a single guitar string, a cheap as chips pickup from EBay, a couple of bolts and a bit of door frame I had left over.
After several months figuring it out, this is proof of concept for my new workflow - create in AUM, supplement on occasion with a sprinkling of hardware and real world objects, and arrange it all in Ableton.
So I shoved my new home made toy through my Korg NTS1, a Mooer PE100 multifx and, ahem ‘jammed’ with a backing track I’d made in AUM using Mela, Quanta, and Phawuo sequenced by Cykle into Ableton. The brassy, distortion, and high solo voices are all the diddly bow with ‘live’ effects. I automated a hands on mix using my LaunchControl XL (it’s fantastic being able at last to do this with real faders), used the audio to midi converter included in Ableton on the diddly bow track, and run out the result to a choir sample for the free Spitfire Labs VST.
This is the (frankly, to me somewhat surprising and not at all guitary) result:
Not been on this thread for a while....it’s been rather quiet for a time.
This belongs here l think
Loving this stuff so far, don’t have much to contribute besides this number. Started an album based on a color palette but things took a turn but I’m happy with it.
