Garageband: AUv3 on the master effects?

Rediscovering Garageband. Pretty amazing these days!

I found the settings toggle to allow adding AUv3 effects on a track by track basis. Neat. Is there a way to do the same for the "Master effects" (reverb and delay)?

Cheers!

    Sadly not AFAIK.

  • Curses. Cheers @richardyot.

  • Isn't there some hacky way of doing this? I thought I recall seeing a thread from our GB guru @Janosax on it

Not possible unfortunately. The only thing you can do is record some of their DJ effect to create an automation track, delete the region and then you can set graphic EQ, reverb and delay on master. I prefer to do the mastering outside of GB.

  • Thanks, everyone.

@Janosax Not looking to do mastering in GB. I'm just looking to replace the default reverb and delay send effects with different AUv3 reverb and delay effects.

You can make kind of groups with ApeMatrix AU send receive but it’s « heavy workflow » and will have some non compensated latency. I made a video on that workflow a while ago, not exactly what you need but can give you an idea as you can also do some overcomplicated routing to achieve sends/returns for aux effects:

  • seems odd in a resource constrained environment that they would allow several AU on inserts and none on sends.....have to believe that this will be addressed eventually.

We can hope for that and other things, unfortunately GB didn’t receive any major update since a few years now.

  • Well, there's always WWDC... again lol.

Wow, thank you. It is a marvel to watch you fly around GB! I don't quite get what's going on here but I will definitely give it a shot. Can I ask what the purpose of the blank loops is?
