Blocs Wave Update: Ableton Link Start/Stop

Two months ago, I opened a support ticket with Ampify, asking for Ableton Link start/stop support, the ONE (to me) missing link for seamless AUM integration.

They delivered that request today. Go and grab it.

Thanks Hamish and crew! You told me y’all did look at the RFE and it seems like y’all agreed. \o/ Big, big ups.

    @AmpifyxNovation

    Thanks for link start/stop ;-)

Love to see a wait trigger mode for the scenes, ie snap trigger to bar.

    Thanks again.

    It not working for me.
AUM has link, noticications and sync start stop on
    Blocswave is the same.

Are you loading Blocs wave into Aum as an IAA?

OK, I did a restart. Blocs wave can only started from its page. It does not obey the AUM button. is this expected?

  • It’s flaky for sure, always has been.

I offered to test for them but got no joy.

Try loading blocs first then aum as IAA.

It is working fine syncing to reggae drummer when both apps are loaded stand alone.

Would you mind both explaining your workflow? What are you trying to achieve that requires multi audio-out and AUv3? It may seem like an obvious question but it would really help me to make sense of all the AUv3/MIDI/Audio requests we get here. Thanks! //James

  • Personally, I'd prefer AUs of Groovebox synths and drum machine vs IAA multi-out. Though multi-out would be nice until AU become a reality.

So you'd expect the synths to be available as AUv3s, but not the surrounding app (keyboard etc)? //James

Yes, exactly. I would use other apps/AUs for sequencing and modulation of midi cc parameters.

Drumbox as AUv3 with *Multiple-Audio-Outputs, so we can use our FX-Plugin collection(s) within our host of choice - (I only really use “Drumbox” from “Groovebox”).

Each drum instrument with its own output - Kick, Snare, HH etc.
Even if this was without AUv3 it would be of great benefit.

If this happened, there's no telling how many IAP's I would purchase..

My usage would certainly be significantly higher!

*Not all host support Multi-Out.. yet!

State saving in Auv3 is just one thing... Separate channels ‘per’ instrument’....

Hi James thanks for the reply.
On all three let’s say you have a nice groove going - whether it’s Blocs Wave Launchpad or Groovebox. You think to yourself - I would like to hear that bass/ drum or any particular part/section of it with a bit of a different effect..... You might want some Sugarbytes Turnado on the bass track only in Groovebox.... or you might want some Bleass Reverb on your line of drums on Launchpad.... or you might have specific slice looping that you have newly randomised in Blocs Wave and you Want some Eventide CrushStation added to it - you cant do any of these things - any effect you want to introduce is added to every single track playing.

Imagine Blocs Wave with separate outs - any of which you can route to an effect of your choice - and each with that slicing, randomising, loop point sliding joy that is already there... or as I said being able to do the same in your Launchpad or Groovebox project.

It’s all about the huge array of available effects and being able to add them to not the whole project at the same time, but to individual parts - this would be a massive addition and open up a whole universe of creativity...... truly stellar!

You can have individual effects per lane in Launchpad already but you are limited to those provided. In Groovebox there again are only a few you can add per track -but very limited to the ones provided - and there are none to add in Blocs Wave at all.

  • Multi outs would be great.

As would full midi control over scene switching (more scenes please)

  • @AmpifyxNovation

Ableton start/stop not working properly here.

    I started Blockwaves first.
    Enabled Ableton link including start/stop

    Instantiated AUM next.
    Enabled Ableton Link including start/stop

Blockwaves doesn't reset to beat 1.

It does start and stop to be clear.

If you have space on beta group?
    I would like to join.
