Use iPad effects apps in Ableton and Logic
I made a tutorial on how to integrate Echo Pad, Swoopster and other iOS effects in desktop DAWs using the iConnectMidi interfaces with Audio passThru to route audio and midi to and from the iPad digitally. This also works with other apps and Audiobus.
Echo Pad 1.8 update has been submitted which adds MIDI control and clock sync. MIDI control for Swoopster and Stereo Designer will be coming soon as well, sometime within the next few weeks.

Not sure if this just got buried quickly or not much interest, but it rises again just in case it was missed. Kill it with fire and bury it for good if it is of no use!
Awesome. Now i got everything working.
iconnectivity support should give you a 4+ for that.
Thank you so much.

You're welcome. Yeah, I wouldn't mind a 4+ either
I don't have any of the iConnects, but I'm considering getting one. Thanks gor the demo @HoldernessMedia. Definitely kewl to see iOS working with the desktop.
fantastic and extensive tutorial! very useful and well explained (and beautifully videotaped). exactly what i was looking for... my iconnectmidi2 still packet in the box in front of me, so i will follow it step by step to set it up.
one thousand thanks!
Thanks! I saved it to my youtube favorites for later.
Glad it's helpful!
This intrigued me a lot actually. I don't have an iC2+ and I feel like I've seen a lot of complaints about latency. This definitely gets me past some of those.
@daveproper said:
Latency is all up to how you configure both the apps used and your DAW. Once I have some free time I plan to sort out solid guidelines specifically for latency, and probably make a follow up video to cover this.
@HoldernessMedia
Along with iC2+ allowing me to use your gorgeous effects in my desktop DAW, isn't it also possible to sequence iOS synths into desktop DAWs with the same approach?
@Littlewoodg said:
Yup. I didn't cover that in the tutorial since that is what most info and tutorials for the iCM2+ already cover, just the synths.
Yes, you can send midi to the ipad and audio into the the desktop at the same time over the same cable.
And i did not notice any degrading performance.
Thanks HoldernessMedia and dreamrobe for taking the time on this (I'm a poor enough scholar that I only look here for this stuff, didn't occur to me to check the iCM2+ material)
Thanks tons HM also for Echo Pad, Stereo Designer, and Swoopster, man oh man!
This is an awesome demo, @HoldernessMedia, can't wait for your upcoming midi learn updates. I'm trying to wrap my head around how to combine this with Auria to use their plugins with Ableton. Is this possible? I don't yet have the iconnectmidi but this demo is absolutely selling me on it, the ability to use Aurias cheaper plugs just like their desktop counterparts would nail that coffin pretty tight.

You should be able to route audio in/out of Auria like any other audio interface, although I haven't tested this out yet, I see no reason it wouldn't work. The latency compensation is the main tricky part to get tight audio, as soon as I have some extra time I want to come up with some guides.
Very intriguing... Thanks a lot for posting, looking forward to a possible guide. For stage use I could see latency being a big issue but for studio use, I suppose one could always manually nudge audio tracks recorded with a lag. I think I'm in.
Ive been using the ICM2+ run iOS synths in Logic and i think the hardware has finally caught up with our expectations.the iPad is the best midi cont,sound designer you could ever want.once you get it all set up right it can be a invaluable editing tool.
hi everyone
I'm having some issues with my icm2+
When I connect as you explained in the video, I experience a lot of clicks sound.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
I use ipad air1 in live 9.1.7 on OSX yosemite and scarlet 6i6 sound card
By the way, I use iconfig ipad app I do not know how to install the driver from the site of iconnectivity since mid file is and I have no idea how to open it.
