Is there a comparison of the improvements from MK1 to MK2 to MK3?

Honestly it’s the difference between night and day. The MK3 series is a totally new paradigm for Novation and keyboard controllers. The Previous version offered nothing compared to what the MK3 line offers.
I have the 25key mk2 and while nice, my little MK3 runs circles around it cause of the ARP and Fixed Chords and Components customization feature.

The MK3 line is the benchmark of what all midi keyboards should be moving forward.

Why do i feel like i just wrote a review? 🤪

Sounds amazing. But did this not come out just yesterday? I have an MK1 mini and it seems that maybe around Christmas the MK2 had just come out? Can’t keep track!

So its suited for iOS usecases also? Or are you talking about Ableton? ;)

I use mine almost exclusively with iOS. The features are stand alone. It works perfectly with GrooveBox as well. You can also CC Map the Play/Record buttons in AUM and assign the Pots to whatever you want and can do so per Midi Channel.

Ask me what you would want to use it on iOS with and i can tell you how I’d use the MK3 in that workflow. 👊🏼™️

  • @echoopera thanks for the headsup, mate!
I was wondering if those nifty cool features the dude accesses with the knobs and the display and all that is exclusively for Ableton, but it seems it’s „inside“ the MK3 and therefore for every synth plugin accessible. Meaning the arp is not sending Cc to a specific synth but is processing everything inside the keyboard; if I get it right

  • No it all runs natively and works over Midi. I use the ARP, Fixed Chords and custom layouts on iOS and with hardware just fine. Be sure and watch the Loopop video as well.

These MK3 keyboards offer great features for stand alone or Ableton connectivity.

Incredible. There goes the Nanokeystudio into the bay ;)

  • The Novation sound collective is very cool. Every few months they give you more free stuff.

They also update their products frequently with great new features.

    I like Novation :-)

Just a heads up, I linked a load of Launchkey videos from Novation on page 1. There’s some good stuff there. They look like pretty cool controllers.

Yep...just wanted @david_2017 to see this one specifically since he will probably be using without Ableton...

  • Yeah that’s awesome! Thanks for sharing. But usb midi to iPad (I guess USB C to C) is working fine too. I guess I would go for the 37 if not too big. Have to check those sizes.

Yes, on the mk3 mini I have it does Midi over USB as well, so I would assume it's the same with the big ones.

  • I think I’m going to get one of these
Was just about to buy a launchpad too...

I have Korg microkey37 right now.

  • If 25 is enough for echoopera who am I that I lust the MK37 ;)

I’m not a big piano player, but those extra keys on the 37 might be nice. The 25 should work for space limited work areas though. I may spring for that one...but honestly the 37 isn’t much bigger:

Extra octave for $20 or so...hrmmmm....

  • Hi,
In the editor software I can see a Global Channel for setting the pots and in the manual I can find a Keys Channel. Are they identical?
In order to use the LK with software other than Ableton (say AUM on an iPad) it would be great to change the MIDI send channel for both keys and pots and pads at the same tme by pressing Settings and the respective pad. Is this possible?
    Thank you!
