World Scales, One of the most useful apps ever made, with some amazing sounds
I love this app, but why oh why did it never get AB suport, when you hear the samples you think this is an an app screaming for AB. When it first came along AB never existed, I used it several times with hardware recorders and always got a great sound.I did email the dev last week but as yet have had no reply, maybe if enough of us ask himyou never know, anyway its still a very worthwhile app

Hey Flo, I never noticed any latency issues with it and I've recorded with it several times, although there may be some, but I still dig this little gem :-)
Very nice Doug. A definite AB candidate. The sounds alone are worth the price.
This sounds absolutely great. +1 on this getting AB functionality.
Probably my favorite sound is the SEM choir, sounds like no other choir anywhere
Does this support midi ? Can we play this from TJ ?
I also sent a mail asking if there are any plans on integrating Audiobus. Let's see how it goes..
I didn't know this one. Thanks for sharing.
Is it possible to set the tuning of A from 440 to 432 etc?
You can flatten or sharpen any or all notes in a scale.

Not sure, probably not, but you could definately set it up as a custom scale us ing the micro tonal tuning for each note I think.
So that's a 'Not sure, probably not, but definitely yes...'. Lol.
I'm curious: Can it be a real pain in the arse to give your app AudioBus compatibility? If a dev is creating an iOS music app isn't the dev aware of the environment he is creating content for? AudioBus is the golden ticket for integrating iOS apps as never before (if ever before), and if I was a dev I'd cut off my left leg before I kept AudioBus out of the usefulness of my app.
Good news Doug. Hi,
We are working on the update to add Audiobus and will release a new updater when it is ready.
Best.
Not an app I had heard of before, here's the link
https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/worldscales/id505034913?mt=8
I'd like MIDI out, with the altered tunings implemented as pitch bend data.

Great news, thanks @mgmg4871 !
Edit: Can you ask for a resizable keyboard while you're at it? This app would really benefit from a scalable playing area to match the high quality sound it delivers (I only see the 2 octave keyboard)
Looks great - but I'll wait until it's on the bus.
I don't care about AudioBus. Every app that does microtonality is worth a test.
Thank you Doug for the tip.
thanks for this one doug, justr bought and it's very nice.
I would get this with AB, but limited use without some way to get the sounds out.
Hi, I have this app and it was one of first sound boxes for Ipad i purchased. I love the tune knobs for each key Great! But when using the knobs to enter a scale I found them to be very tedious to fine tune them .I think they could be improved by addng a pop-up - type in value, or and 2 step control. { like grain science}. Also I don't think one tenth per cent is fine enough resolution to achieve some altered scales.
When I tried to add some values they would not stay. I would vote for audiobus and IAA. It would also be great if we could load in "scala" tunings, like sunrizer or others.
what other apps are there?
Support for loading Scala files would be great. Then you just load up the Scala file for the microtuning you want instead of manually tuning each note.
Sunrizer is the only iPad app that loads Scala files at the moment. Probably the best "world scales" app at the moment.
Thumbjam will open them too.
I was wondering if the scales in Thumbjam are microtonal?
@Seangarland said:
Good question. I'll have a look myself soon. I'm guessing the built-in ones are all in Western equal temperament (the standard one).
Sunrizer comes with a few microtonal scales - a couple of gamelan ones and African ones as I recall. You have to use iTunes to import new Scala files and looks like Thumbjam requires the same process.
Great audio samples. Beats many apps hands down. Enough world scales to tune the world. First app I've bought from watching Doug's videos. This I will keep as I love the sounds of exotic instruments and the plethora of accompanying scales make the samples sound very authentic. These guys know how to sample instruments. Bravo :-)
You can Open In.. an email attachment or URL link of .scl files in ThumbJam or by using the wifi transfer feature.
And yes, they can of course be microtonal, as well as custom scales you make in the app. You are correct that most of TJ presets are equal tempered, although some are just tempered.
I never thought World Scales would get this much interest, I'm surprised and delighted at the response to this App, and the great news is the dev left a comment on the video saying that not only will it get AB Support but more and better samples plus more. He is working on a bug fix at the moment but he estimates a release within a month
thanks for the info, also about Thumbjam.
