sEGments by Elliott Garage - quick walkthrough - FREE CODE AVAILABLE!

Andrea from Elliott Garage has very kindly offered a free code for his hotly anticipated Sampler / Slicer!! Details in the youtube comments section.

This came out a bit quicker than expected for me, I thought it would be tomorrow!! But I wanted to get an early vid out, so I go through all the main features but don’t do anything too fancy. Hope you find it useful anyway!

  • For me, this is an essential app moving forward. I used Abu Dhabi a lot when I released my first solo album so this is a welcomed addition. Good tutorial and thanks to @ElliottGarage for bringing this to life.

  • I was lusting Caged in Abu Dhabi a lot - Never got it ;)

  • Cheers bro! Strangely came out where I am before midnight!! I wasn’t expecting this til tomorrow. Bit rushed but I think I covered everything important! Now someone who actually lives and breathes samples can go and make a more performance-oriented video, I’m looking forward to seeing what people like @stormbeats and @Turntablist can do with this. No sample packs allowed guys! 😉

  • It was definitely my most used Gadget

    @Gavinski cant stand you bro ! I pre-ordered :D
Really nice walkthrough made me realize that it really doesn’t overlap with BM3 and NS2 which i also own

  • Haha, sorry to part you from your cash!

Is there not much overlap with BM3? Because someone else just said to me that this would help them do a lot of things in AUM that they can currently only do in BM3!

  • Well I find this to be a bit more immediate based on videos I have seen, sometimes i can get lost in all that BM3 does moving from multiple tabs of features , I lose that initial inspiration or what I had in mind, where as sEGments is a very versatile “scratchpad” with a clean easily accessible GUI/layout allows me to keep the momentum going (you would think I already owned or tested it :D )
NS2 is great in terms of sequencing but sampling in Obsidian is an ok experience for me this would integrate well there too, I plan on using it in the same manner as Elliott did in the sEG/Cubasis 3 video he did

  • I saw that video, looked great!

  • @Gavinski Im new to the iOS music world and have been pretty good at not succumbing to GAS. I also purchased AUM and have been thinking about pairing that with ATOM to sequence before going to DAW. ATOM and sEG might pair very nicely within AUM as a “full featured”scratchpad .
    Thanks for reminding me

Wow.. only got to ‘Poly’ in the video... and must say WOW... Thanks.. EG... can’t wait..

Edit.. I think people will be calling for this on desktop...

  • Thanks, @Gavinski
Is there a length limit for the samples?

  • Thanks for helping us pass the time while waiting for sEGments to 🐣.. Nicely done!

  • Cheers guys!
@despego well in the vid I was able to load a file that was more than a minute long. I think you can probably load longer but haven't tried. The main limitation though is that it will only be able to chop it into 16 slices, due to the limitations of the app. But you could always save one long audio into several preset files, so not a big problem.

  • Someone (actually an old forum member here!) pointed out in my YouTube comments, by the way, that I forgot to mention one of the killer features: loading in the fx slot in AUM or whatever to do live input recording. Knew it could do that but yes - completely forgot to mention it, so rectifying that here 😅

You can even grab sounds from other apps that aren’t able to import samples or so. For instance ... i dont know ;) but the rec option is sublime!

  • Only had a little play with this but I love it already. I've badly wanted something like this for ages, and this beauty works fantastically well. I'm sure there will be a few bugs here and there but this is a great start. Happy days!

  • With this developer it seems we don't have to worry about a few bugs here and there luckily, because he is sooo damn hard working and responsive! Unlike one famous slicer app developer who shall remain unnamed 😜

Even better still, IN NS2 you can load it in to the FX slot, which enables recording to it via the excellent routing in NS2, but, you do not need to ever even use the instrument, because the FX slots in NS2 receive all track MIDI, so you can record and play all in one.

'receive all track midi' do you mean that they can receive midi from any instrument loaded in any audio slot?
