  • I’ve updated amplitude ios this morning,and it’s available.

Good question I also want the answer.

Amplitube is my go-to ampsim for decades. So I prefer Amplitube just because I know it well and know how to archive a great sound for practice, jamming and recording. I have Nembrini's MRH810 on desktop and I think it sounds no worse than Amplitube. But I like Amplitube and I will continue to use it in future.

It means that there is no fundamental difference between the two. Amplitube and Nembrini are great ampsims and you can find a lot of great sounds in both of them.

You will see the official announcement tomorrow. We went live with the Mac/PC version last week as a "soft opening" since it was ready and didn't require an external/third party review (well, all of the massive review from Joe was finally OK with him, but I meant like Apple's review process) and the iOS version got approved today so we decided to make it available to propagate before the official announcement coming tomorrow.

  • Can’t wait to hear @flo26 run the Sach rigs through their paces!!!

@ikmultimedia: is this an introductory price?

Nice to see the Tube Driver Pedal included. It’s a favorite of lots of great guitarists besides Joe. David Gilmour and Eric Johnson come to mind...

  • I prefer the Moller t-rex overdrive within Amplitube. I like how it sounds and use it in all my presets. So I’m not sure that I will change my preferences.

This is not an introductory price.

The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • I like amplitube the most of any of the amp sims, both on ios and mac. Mostly for bass stuff since that’s my instrument, but I’ve used it on a lot of things. The dual miking is particularly handy and cool.

Not buying unless it includes an officially licensed Satch Shaved Head Skull Cap.

  • Indeed!!! @wim

  • @Kranick , are you talking about desktop amplitube or ios? Or, do they sound different?

  • @SaltySugarSolo, I have both of them with all expansions (excluding ‘Brian May‘ and ‘Joe Satriani’). AFAIK they have the same engine and I think they sound very similar. But Amplitube on Mac is much more flexible because it has several options that you can’t get on iOS. Nevertheless, I use the same settings for ams, cabs and pedals on desktop and iOS and have the same results.

  • Nope. Just IAA.

    Au?

What are you doing with such apps that you need an au? I am a little bit impressed with how often people on this forum ask about such feature. But I have never seen any audio recordings from forums members. So I’m not sure does anyone really need au to use any guitar app.

I have AU on desktop. But I never used it for anything else then recording. Every time I want to play guitar for practice, I do it with standalone app. So I can’t understand this...

I don't see why not seeing any recordings posted here indicates that people don't record guitar? Of course they do.

But aside from that, AUv3 brings state saving to the party. It means you can set up a project, get your tone the way you want it, and then save and return to that project immediately without having to save the preset you were working on and restore it every time.

You can also have more than one instance with different settings, then easily audition / swap out different setups.

IAA is depreciated by Apple, which means that it will stop functioning with other apps at some point. At that time you may not have the option to use non AU apps alongside other apps.

IAA is buggy. It causes many problems when trying to use with other apps. It's only likely to get worse as Apple puts less effort into preventing and fixing bugs in newer OS releases.

Spending further money on depreciated technology could be seen as a bad investment. For instance, while I don't mind using Amplitude as a standalone app, I'm not interested in investing any money on the Satriani addition, even though I'm a fan of both Amplitude and Satch myself. I'd rather try to get close to that tone with more modern apps.

You can use more than one instance of an AU plugin. For guitar, that'd rarely be useful, but can be. But also, amp sims can be used for more than just guitar.

AU is more modular. It's easier to combine an amp sim with FX from other developers, experiment with different ordering, etc.

Those are just a few things off the top of my head.

  • Yes, at times @Kranick, there there seems to be an overwhelming cry for apps to be “No AU, No Buy.”

Ideally, I tend to agree. AUv3 apps are much more stable and the more amp sims, effects, and IR units that are AU, the most stable the rig should be.

Like an number of other guitarists here, I use AUM to build my rig. It allows me to use, say, a Nembrini amp running through an Impulse Response cab, through some ToneStack or AmpliTube effects, and then perhaps through a delay unit, reverb and Magic Death Eye.

When playing through such a chain, the weak links will inevitably be the non AU apps.

If you are experiencing frequent AUM crashes while playing, wouldn’t you want the most stable apps in your chain as possible?

If you’re happy with the tone you get from a single standalone app, then more power to you!

However for the rest of us, seeking that elusive tone requires a variety of stable apps — and that is the reason for our requests.> @Kranick said:
