  • If nothing else this has introduced me to Vulfpeck, very impressed - going off for a Spotify session there. Luckily, checking them out on Youtube, 'Looparang' are offering to save me from boring loop packs by trying to sell me... a boring Loop pack, thanks guys. Slight glitch in the algorithm there on a video for a live funk band... now if they'd been trying to persuade me to buy (another) amp sim...

  • I would be interested, and I got everything except the archetype sims already. A duo cortex for around 1k would also be something I would want.

Guitar player. Don’t care. Never heard of Neural DSP. If they were “industry standard” (whatever that is) I’m pretty sure ida heard of them.

I didn’t weigh in on the first thread because it didn’t seem contrary feedback was being sought. But if people feel the need to keep bringing it up then I guess honest feedback is in order.

So, no, not interested. I have all the amp sims I need. That would change if there was overwhelming consensus after it came out and if demos indicated it fit my style. But up-font, no interest.

I guess it’s better to be honest than to stay quiet and possibly have the developer get a misleading read on the potential market.

Sorry - hate to rain on the parade. 😐

Before commenting without even having heard a demo of the Neural DSP apps, you could at the very least do a Youtube search and watch a few demos, so that you could provide an informed opinion, rather than contribute zero to the thread. Disclosure - I have no association whatsoever with Neural DSP, but I will say that aside from Nembrini, nothing else comes even vaguely close to my ears.

  • An important consideration is the CPU load when running an app like this. Having looked at how these amp sims are configured, they appear to provide a specific rig for each ‘archetype’, each of which comes with its own amps, cabs and effects.
There is a distinct advantage to having these specific archetype rigs, in that you are less likely to suffer from choice paralysis, since you will already know within reason what to expect from each rig, without being presented with a seemingly endless range of amp/cab models and effects, as is the case with Bias FX2 mobile, GE Labs and the like.
Nembrini also seems to share this philosophy - sometimes less is more, and it’s better to focus on simply getting the best possible tone and interaction with the player.

Nembrini iOS apps are great sounding, but once you start to combine their amp sims and FX in AB3 as a full rig, you start to see the CPU usage rise dramatically, which limits how many other audio apps you can run simultaneously without having to trade off the low latency.
My point is that if everything is already integrated within each of the specific Neural DSP archetype rigs, you might expect that the CPU use might be lower than when combining several different Nembrini apps into a rig. Of course I don’t know that, but it would certainly be an advantage. Of course, Nembrini already have a similar rig on other platforms, and apparently Andrea has said that this will be ported across to the iOS/iPad OS platform at some point.

This is an general IOS app discussion, yet the thread is about an iOS app that doesn’t exist. I think @wim is entitled to be dismissive about that on this particular forum without getting shot down.

Well, then you missed my point entirely.

I represent some unknown percentage of people who a) wouldn't automatically bother to look further into the product, not having heard of them, b) have all the quality amp sims I need, so wouldn't have any interest in another unless it was proven after the developer committed their time and if it was absolutely stellar on iOS, and if it was much higher priced than most amp sims on iOS.

I didn't comment to just bring negativity to the discussion. I commented to help answer the question posed in the thread title. If the thread title was "Help us convince Neural DSP to release on iOS", then I would not have bothered.

So, frankly, I don't give a crap that I annoyed you personally by taking the time to explain specifically why I'm not interested and not motivated to look much further into them at this time. The purpose was to shed light on what might need to change for them to be as successful as they would like, assuming there may be some significant number of people out there like me.

    Deal with it. B)
