Description:

TfxEcho is an echo effect AudioUnit Extension plugin. It uses delay lines which are inspired by BBD (bucket brigade device). BBD is used in various analog delay unit and is known for its warm and dark sound. The delay line uses fixed length buffer and an artificial clock to sample input signal in variable sampling rate. When the delay time is changed, the delay line can produce pitch change effect which is similar to the behavior of the BBD based analog delay unit.

The delay line is inspired by BBD, but it is not emulation of the any particular BBD. Unlike the typical BBD based delay unit, frequency range of the delay line is not limited. The delay line is capable to capture signal in higher frequency up to about 22KHz.

Features

AudioUnit Extension

  • Delay Time: From 20 ms to 1200 ms
  • Feedback: From 0 % to 100 %
  • Adjustable lowpass filter and high-pass filter.
  • Modulation rate: From 0.01 Hz to 10 Hz
  • Modulation width: From 0 ms to +/- 10 ms
  • Delay time can be synced to tempo provided by the host application.

Host Application

Host application uses system audio input as an audio source and processed audio signal is routed to the system audio output.

  • Great!

  • Has this something different from other apps like BLEASS delay, tap delay etc?

  • I think a BBd delay structure has its own character ( I just like the way it sounds ) maybe someone else know the exact explanation.

    I like it too, I think I’m covered between Dubstation and Woodulator for BBD, but I’d like to hear more examples from this one.

  • The short demo sounds lovely tbf. It does just make me wonder if I can get that sound from one of the 1,000 reverb and delay fx I already own

  • Bought. It sounds so good. Maybe later I upload a video when I finish working.

    Good lad! But please tell us ASAP the answer to your own question. Does it really do anything unique that the other bucket brigade delays can't do?

    As promised. For me it sounds pretty good.

  • Listening now, sounds very nice, Seems in a similar ballpark to ‘stereo delay’ and the nembrini 3000, what would you say Charles? The Bleass one sounded like it didn’t suit this fugue too well, what do you think?

    Thanks for making this btw.

  • Hadn’t heard AUFX dub before - really nice. Pity it isn’t AU.

  • This is really good IMHO. Reminds me of my old Deluxe Memory Man but brought up to modern times and without the aliasing and clock noise. Maybe it should have the option to add those back in? 😆

    I'm not ab expert like You sadly, but this is what my old ears told me:

    • worst fx: MultiTapDelay, to me it sounds really bad, it is like it suffocate the sound;
    • best AUFX dub, because is so versatile and sound so warm to me, a gem, please @j_liljedahl listen to us and make all your effects suite Auv3:-);
    • the weirdest sounding: Ultratap, RE-, Bleass Delay, Delayrium and RealDelayrium;
    • not so tweakable: it sounds good but you can't operate surgically, Ez Delay;
    • subtle: Nembrini Delay 3000 (I love it);
    • out of competition: Ape Delay (strange thing is going on here, love it, but it is at least a weird sound effect);
    • Tfx it sounds standard like effect for its sounding possibility range but it also seems giving character to the track;
    • I forgot to insert in my play NA Analog Rack Delay, FS Reverb Delay, ApeDelay, RealDelayrium, Delayrium, PhaseDelayArray, Band Delay, Vandelay, Tap Delay and Echo Pad, IFX Rack and Echo Pitch (maybe more).

    Maybe I can make an epic delay comparison later:-)

  • I'm not an expert Charles, far from it!! Just sharing what I learn as I go and very aware of my current limitations, but definitely learning more all the time.

  • @Charlesalbert don’t you go leaving Kosmonaut out now, will you? 😉

  • Or Modley! 😛

  • Thanks for the links and videos. I’m a sucker for delays. These days I’ve been playing with TTAP. Still have to grasp a few things but I like what it comes out.

    I’ve bought it because it seems very straight forward. Next one will be ultratap.

  • would be great if it was compatible to ios 12.x

  • Really nice, simple and with its own character.
    I like it.

    I agree.

    That0s the perfect description for the effect.

    Ultratap is awesome
