Ioniarics walkthrough video - WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Today I have 4 copies of Ioniarics and 4 copies of Cality, by the same developer, to give away!! (See the comment pinned at the top of the youtube comments section for details!)
Ioniarics is a polyrhythmic arpeggiator - it can create complex rhythms and melodies with varying degrees of randomization. It has some very cool features. In this video I will also look at a few cool tricks - how to automate some modulation in the app, and most intererestingly - the benefits of using two instances of Ioniarics going into the same audio source.

Sweet. Keep em coming @Gavinski my number is bound to get randomly selected one of these times...
I hope you win some time soon, thanks!
Will it work with my guitar plug in my iPad? (via soundcard obv)
It will work with midi input, not audio.
Do you know something similar with audio? Thanks!
Well, you could play your guitar into sEGments, for example, chop it into slices, then use Ioniarics to arpeggiate those slices!
I like your creativity! Thanks
Pagefall apps are among my very favorite.
@Gavinski Hey, what a coincidence.. I don't have either of these.. Why? I don't really know.. guess I'll watch this in a bit, and discover why I need them RIGHT NOW..
As always, thanks for sharing your "art" on your YouTube channel..
@Montreal_Music sEGments is great for this kind of thing!
@johnfromberkeley yes, they bring a bit of modular goodness to our touch screens!
@royor thanks bro, yoir comments on the youtube page are always great reads too, enjoy them a lot.
This was great, what's up with that rise and fall? Cheers!
Cheers. Did I not explain that? Think I did. They are the time it takes for the function generator to go from the lowest to highest note and back down again. But because this is superimposed on top of the other patterns, it only represents a tendency. The function generator just modifies the other stuff going on, rather than overriding it.
Thanks for this great vid
@Mayo thnx for the thnx!
I'm just imagining you playing the guitar via MIDI Guitar into the iPad and the generative sequence will control a second MIDI-controlled robot hand mounted on the guitar neck to play accompanying melodies 😁
I bought this when it came out but never used it because I had no idea what I was doing. Because of you, l now do. I love your no-nonsense approach to these tutorials. Just make sure your device is charged next time 😝
This looks really cool.
@Weareroses good to see you here!
@audio_DT just managed to get the vid done by the skin of my teeth. Blame Apple for taking away the headphone jack. Where's my blood-soaked-knife emoji gone!
My hyperdrive mic jack flaked within months. Overpriced crap, sadly...
Thanks, I admit I was skipping around. Guilty as charged, thanks though really! I get it now.
@Gavinski dang wont be buying the hyperdrive now, still looking for a usb.c combo
I realized, by the way, that the ability to get the cool pitch bends I show in the video using two instances going into one sound source depends on the synth source being mpe. Which Noise is! Makes sense. Just wanted to mention this in case others are trying and not getting these kind of results.
I guess a mono synth would do the same pitch bend?
Good point @despego I'll experiment with that too. Trying to think though what mono synth I have apart from Shockwave (which is also mpe). Could try with bassalicious I guess
When I first heard your patch I was sure it was a mono synth you were pointing at with Ioniarics.
Viking synth by Blamsoft, Ripplemaker or a bunch of your usual synths in mono mode: Spectrum, Model 15... you name it.
I tried it earlier with some of the embertone instruments, yup, it works! Thanks for pointing it out 😊
Oh, actually, Ripplemaker would be amazing for this I think.
