Drum Session - dry samples ?
I picked up DS a while ago but only getting round to using it now. All the rock kit samples seem to have reverb - anyone know if there is a way to get dry samples? I’d rather add FX Processing in the DAW where I have more control
Comments
I believe you can click the enable button above reverb delay and chorus, that is lit up, to turn it off or disable it.
I do t believe I know, just checked it
Thanks for that but i cant find an enable reverb/delay/chorus setting anywhere in the UI - can you describe what specific section it’s in or better still send a screen grab? Cheers
And just in case we have our wires crossed, this is the app I mean - https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/drum-session/id1030319584
There's only one dry kit in DrumSession: Stem Export Kit. The FX are baked into the rest.
Thanks man, sounds about right from what I can see/hear.
@Blue_Mangoo any plans to decouple samples from the FX so we can enjoy DS’s full variety of drum sounds but with control over FX?
I'm gonna guess most drum samples are wet (with reverb already) so they sound better / more realistic
Another guess. DS is a colab or Blue Mangoo was hired to develop it by Derek. So the samples are made by him. Kind of an evolution of his ol' BM2 drum packs
Drum Session is one of the apps on iOS with the greatest potential that has so far been fully unrealized.
As a practice tool or quick way to program scratch/guide drums the app is great . But as a recording tool, until it allows user sample importing it is sadly skippable. I don't if Blue Mangoo and the Mani Consulting dev are the same or what, but I know @DerekBuddemeyer worked with the Blue Mangoo on Drum Session.
I still hope for full sample importing & AUv3 for the app, it would be incredible if it did.
I thought they meant Digistix my bad
I’m really enjoying Drum Session! Sounds super realistic and I really enjoy the Blues Rock drumkit sound so good! The latestbuodated fixed a lot if Ableton bugs so right nowbits very rock solid with Auria. I have to disable Ableton when using it with Auria though.
Question: you guys prefer hostimg DS in AUM then sendimg audio to Auria or host in Auria?
FAC Transient is outstanding for that kind of work too. But better to not have to resort to something like that in the first place.
IMO having the FX baked in has always been a shortcoming of Drum Session. But I can see how it fits the basic idea of the app ... get some beats going quickly without having to know how to make them sound good.
There’s a preset in Beatformer app that dries up the soumds really well👍🏼
I'm generally sending the midi so Xequence and triggering other apps from there
Cool thanks!
I was thinking the same but wanted to have at least two apps the DAW and AUM but X2 is super stable and my midi is safe there.
