Evolver timing options

Emailed Paul, but I'm never sure if I'm sending emails off into a black hole based on the way his support info is configured... oh well. Will try here, too.

I've started a project to wrap my head around EvolverFX and it is indeed as deep as advertised. Lots of cool options in this one. That said, I'm puzzled by how the timing works with both the wave sequence mode and the arp mode. I've fully investigated and played with the "Reset Timing Lane with Key" option, the "Reset Note Lane with Timing Lane" option, and the "Sync to Tempo" button. My expectation is that I leave the "Sync to tempo" button off and then play a note with both the "Reset" options selected that the sequence would start playing. But that's not the case. If I play the key when the bar is not at "1" Evolver pauses until a "1" is hit and then the sequence starts. If I was sync'd to tempo, I would expect this behavior. But with that button turned off, I would expect the first note of the sequence to start immediately on press (and the "1" of the sequence is initiated by my key press). Am I missing a setting somewhere in the app?

Thanks! Too bad I have to actually open FB to message someone... not a fan of FB.

Sometimes great response, sometimes radio silence.

And yeh, I would rather live with broken apps than resort to FB to contact a developer.

  • Following up in case someone has similar questions. I contacted Paul via FB Messenger and he could not have been more helpful! He patiently walked me through how he had designed the app and why I was not getting the results I was seeking. After I explained why his design didn't cover my use case, he worked on adding an option to cover my use case. (You'll see the new "Free Sync" mode in Evolver now.) A+ customer service!

    +1 Same experience

  • i’ve sent a few emails to that address with no response but have gotten them on youtube, i also don’t facebook so that’s on me i suppose.
i saw that new update to the arp that’s pretty cool he added that! i have yet to dig in but i’m going to tonight.
i just really hope he makes digikeys let you sustain a note longer than 16 steps, and from say step 8 to step 64 , the multi pages per 16 steps seems to be the problem not allowing that to happen but as a drone / pad guy i need longer sustains even at the half speed settings
