Well that's a damn shame, he was bloody great.

  • Had a shit life for most of it due to some dodgy acid trip in Germany in the 60s. I think he ended up living with his mum as a recluse and stopped playing the guitar for years!

  • Not only a great guitarist with an easily recognisable sound but the songs he wrote - Albatross and Black Magic Woman for example - are classics. I loved that 60’s British blues genre he was part of. RIP Peter Green.

yeh, I love his playing and tone. I reach for a couple of his solos I learned long ago when I'm not inspired but just want to get into that soulful / expressive zone. Works every time.

74 is pretty early to go. RIP

  • Damn shame, thanks for the tunes, Mr Green.

  • Very sad. Truly a stellar talent!

Very odd, a number of guitar magazines had cover stories on Peter his fabulous Les Paul "Greeny" over the past few months...

  • Rest In Peace

  • RIP Peter ..... The master blues guitarist but also wrote many fantastic hits in the late 60's .... etched in my mind forever.

  • RIP Indeed.

Saw him at the Byron Bay festival a few years ago, he still had some of the magic and the crowd loved him.

    Classy man and guitarist.

  • He went for feeling rather than technical, and was damn good at it. Always played with a hint of sadness and BB King was a big fan because of the emotion he put into his playing.

    RIP

  • Tuned the ears of generations.

Such a delicate touch. So raw.

The “BB blues box” is a minor sixth pentatonic scale. It can be played anywhere on the neck. There are three different ones that work well on any given chord in the blues. In a C blues, on the C chord you can play the minor sixth pentatonic in C, G, or Eb. They all sound good.

An idol of mine, have his picture to my left, in the same frame as Jimmy Page and Angus Young
