Looking for step sequencer like on Ableton Push

I searched high and low, tried loads of apps but can’t find what I’m looking for.

Just a step sequencer, grid layout. 8x8 grid instead of just horizontal.
A part where you can select notes, and a part with scenes. Even just the step sequencer with note selection would do great.

Any suggestions?

I found https://apps.apple.com/cy/app/beatsup-beat-maker-daw/id1401680255 , but it doesn’t connect in any way. Don’t need sample, I just want it to send notes to a daw or instrument.

    Drambo of course😬

Other apps with great step sequencers:
    BeatMaker3
    OctaChron
    Patterning 2
    ZenBeats (only for drums though)

  • Modstep

There are some build on Mozaic.
But you get only 2 rows of 8 steps with it though.

  • I’d love some bigger layout options, or a customisation option in mozaic, 8x8 grid with some knobs would be ace though...

  • Does it have to be an AUv3?

    Thanks for the replies.
While bm3, brambo, patterning, zenbeats and modstep all seem to have good step sequencers, they all appear to have only linear stepcequencing.
I’m look specifically for a grid layout where you add notes for just one instrument/sample. It’s kinda hard to explain. Traditional step sequencing happens linear, so you have multiple instruments below each other, each with the steps from left to right.
What I’m looking for is a grid where the steps have multiple rows. Like in this Ableton push video at 0.23 I have the push, and I really like the way that works!

I’m pondering about mosaic. It can probably do that. It seems the limitation is the layouts as you mention!

That’s nice... let’s see what MidiSteps has for us in the pending update...

Yeah. If you want same functionality as Push2 you won’t find it on iOS. I love using my Push2 and find that Drambo fills the gap the best on iOS. It reminds me of my Elektron gear. I don’t mind the linear layout of the step sequencer...no Chasing needed which is nice.

Sometimes you have to bend the way the winds blows.

  • The Novation Launchpad Pro mk3 has the same layout for its sequencer. Not and iOS app, but also a lot cheaper than the Push.

SDS-x seems to work like this. But it only has 16 steps
