BM3 - inter app audio not working as it used to
Hi,
I tested DM1, Nanologue, ArpOdyssey and other apps...
It was much harder to get them working to play or sample, compared to a few months ago.
I eventually managed to sample Nanologue okay...
Has inter app audio started to disappear from compatibility point of view?
Or is it BM3?
Anyone had similar disappointments?
Thanks.....

Did you check if BM3 has background audio enabled?
Some 'bright users' though it would be good to disable background audio by default and the remaining developer complied most likely even without considering the negative impact it would have on IAA...
So in order to have a somewhat glitch-free experience with IAA and BM3, enable background audio and launch the IAA apps prior to connecting them to BM3. This is also true if you plan to connect BM3 to AUM, in that cause launch BM3 first and then connect it to AUM.
Good Luck!
PS. Don't forget to enable background audio in the connected IAA apps as well, because if you don't they will stop producing audio when backgrounded...
I haven't used IAA in about 2 years, but after updating to iOS 13.6 the other day a friend asked me to test a few IAAs in BM3 and other hosts.
In BM3, it's very flaky now. You can load an IAA plugin, but after you switch views to the plugin and then return to BM3, the sound glitches out terribly.
I then tried it in Cubasis 2, and IAA still works good enough there. Although working IAA is still nothing to be too excited about, because of all the associated problems inherent in the system (ghost apps, one instance max, no state saving, bad ram management).
The sooner we switch to 100% AUv3 the better, in my humble opinion.
Most IAA issues on iPadOS13.6 are caused by apps having background audio turned off and launching them in 'wrong order'.
One typical glitch is trying to have the host launch the IAA app, if it fails trying to manually launch the app makes things worse, so one has to quit all the apps, then launch the apps that one wants to connect first, then head to the host and do the connections or recall sessions with IAA dependencies. In some cases a hard reboot is needed to get rid of the ghosts that do not go away with a soft reset / memory wipe.
Oh man... just try it & it works! Thanks for advice!
All very helpful tk32 and Samu...
You’re right..background audio was turned off!
Thanks again.....
In Cubasis 2 was fine.....
DM1 is pretty defunct app I think too...but not getting DM2.....
By the way, is a standard overload sufficient to unload ghost iaa apps, or is it necessary to do a hard reset?
The various devices have different methods for 'soft reset aka ram-wipe'.
On the ancient iPad Air 2 it's just holding down power button until the 'swap right to turn off' shows up, after that hold down home button and if you've got pass code enabled you'll be prompted to tap it, if not you'll go straight to the home screen.
All the apps you had in the task switcher will still be there but will be relaunched when selected.
Good practice is to swipe away everything before doing th soft reset / ram wipe.

There are some adds and annoying pops there but it should cover the different methods quite well...
Thanks!
