Best SD or Micro SD card performance

Looking to expand storage on ipad and want to dedicate external drive to audio recordings and sample library.

What are your favorite brands and and if possible post specs in comments ?

    Doh ! Wirecutter is my go to thanks ! But this is definetly specific to iOS recording so looking for forum members experiences as well . I did do preliminary research and have decided on SDXC UHS II.

    The best performing SD is the best performing SD on any platform. iOS makes no difference.

    Keep in mind that with the exception of two apps that I know of, all do not access files directly from external storage. You will mostly be copying them back and forth. And even for the two that do make use of external storage directly, they are copying it from there to internal ram anyway, so basically just doing automatically what you would be doing manually in other apps.

    Great and good to know, I didnt know if performance was Ipad or app specific, I am sure both play roles in this but was looking for any specifics like you stated. Btw which two apps are you referencing ?

    Actually, I was misinformed. I think GarageBand is the only app that can use SD storage semi-directly. NeoSoul Keys Studio 2 and Pure Synth Platinum can use external storage, but it has to be SSD, not SD.

    So, SD transfer rate and reliability are the most important factors since you'll virtually always be simply copying files to and from internal storage.
