Zenbeats audio glitches on a Mac & iPad-desktop workflow - slightly OT

Hi,

I'm just diving into Zenbeats on my iPad and I really like it. My envisioned workflow is to easily create loops on my iPad, then convert it to timeline, transfer it to my Mac and then do the arranging comfortably on the big screen.

The problem is that I experience a lot of audio glitches on my Mac. Almost any move of my mouse cause crackles. The system stats show 100% CPU then. The problem occurs mostly when I do something outside of Zenbeats but sometimes also when doing in Zenbeats, sometimes even if I control the mixer with my MIDI controller. I'm still on Mojave.

Moreover I'd like to know about your experiences with such a workflow. How do you cope with using iPad AUv3 synths when you continue on the desktop. Is freezing tracks fulfilling your needs?

Comments

  • What are the specs on your Mac?

  • I never bothered to download Zenbeats for my Mac... (I prefer to use Logic).
One way to get the AUv3 audio to the Mac is to freeze the tracks with the AUv3's on the iPad before exporting / sharing the session.

Might have to do with Mojave. I am on High Sierra on a 2013 Mac Pro and everything is fine with all of the creative software I use. Freeze tracks or export stems when going from iOS to desktop. If they bring Zenology to iOS that will be my path in the future, Zenology as primary source and stems for anything I do with something iOS specific.

    It’s a 2017 Macbook Pro, i5, 8 GB - should be more than enough.

Really strange... Normally my Macbook is quite fast. Soon I‘ll upgrade to Catalina. Maybe its getting better then.

And do you think then a song created on the iPad with Zenology synths could be transferred to the Mac then its using the same synths?

It would make sense to have a package of synths that are cross platform and Zenology is their cross platform technology. I was told ElectroSynth was “probably EOL” so I’m guessing that applies to the other current ZB synths. We’ll see “in the fall”. 😎
