times are suck.
i feel as if there will be nothing in 2021. no festivals or shows, no conferences, etc.. I hope im wrong, but its looking that way
Doesn't mean no new products though. 😄
God NAMM!
Meh, trade shows are on their way out anyway, NAMM has been boring compared to Superbooth and the like lately. I think we'll see just as much cool gear getting released around that time as usual, just via company's websites.
There will at least be a 'virtual' NAMM 2021 (starting soon).

Wonder if we'll see some cool now apps drop in a timely manner?
Ah, NAMM. The Frankfurt Music Messe. British Music Fair at Olympia. These used to be the finger posts pointing the way through my work year, once upon a time... Can’t say I miss them now.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
https://www.synthtopia.com/content/tag/2021-namm-show/ is one place to follow along with the virtually announced synthy bits.
Take a year off from GASing and use what you’ve got.
Remember when Intua made BM3 free during NAMM 2018?
(I doubt they'll repeat this)
New Korg synths might please a few here - the mini Arp 2600, the modwave, and the miniKorg 700:

Yamaha will announce a new synth on Wednesday.
And there's a new Kurzweil workstation:

Who knows, maybe some 'knock my socks off' type of apps will be released![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Anyways, I'm at least a bit in the mood to get some...
We can start whining to Korg about a iModwave![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
No need, this time Korg went the other way around...
Electribe Wave app was the first 'wavetable synth' Korg ever released and it was not based on any Korg hardware as far as I know so this time they took the wavetable synthesis from Electribe Wave, 'souped it up' and baked it into hardware![B) B)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/sunglasses.png)
Considering it's standard *.wav files that Elecribe Wave uses (yes, they can be extracted from the IPA) it should be pretty easy for Korg to add a Import *.wav feature to the synth just as they allow import of user-samples to the drum machine.
But hey, then they could not sell IAPs if users could download a shedload of wavetables from other sources haha...
Cheers!
I’ll be keeping an eye out for potential new Novation Circuits.
I don’t think I’ll be able to buy one anytime soon but it doesn’t stop some window shopping :-)
And I’m still hoping one day somebody will release a small midi keyboard with built in audio interface. Like a Novation XioSynth only a bit smaller. Add an additional USB port or two to make it a hub and I’d be breaking out my credit card now and worrying about repayments later :-)
Or , if you’re listening Novation, stick the guts of the audio +MIDI interface with hub you used to make inside a circuit.
I know ik multimedia make something similar at the moment... but I’m absolutely not dealing with proprietary cables. I’ve broken, lost and forgotten enough cables to know that will end in tears. Plus it’s easy to leave spare cables at home, band mates house (remember when you could meet people in their houses?) and office etc to make sure you’re never without.
YEAH! NAMM Show FTW!!! Excited to see some boxes and stuff.
@Samu, that is interesting. Could one possibly replace the wav files in the Electribe Wave IPA file and reinstall with iMazing?
Theoretically yes if you find a way to recalculate a verified checksum for the *.ipa package after injecting the *.wav files.
On a jailbroken device it should be possible to drop in *.wav files and add them to the index file in that folder so the app can 'see' them or something.
Hopefully Korg gets around and updates the app with an option to load user wavetables.
Cheers!
This was pre-NAMM, but while I'm normally very anti-gold, daaaaaamn.
DAMM!
WOW! I used to have a 700. Loved it. Picked it up for £30.00 in the early nineties. Always regretted selling it on eventually. The new version put a big smile on my face!
I met my wife when she was posting online looking for someone to help her learn her K2600XS.![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Still the most complicated synth I've ever used, but we had a good laugh seeing a new version announced almost 20 years after we met.
Ouch. I've not had the pleasure but it's a nice-looking object, eh? Happy you spent some time with an OG![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Great story. 😄
