Analog mixer / Audio interface / IOS interface : an all-in-one solution?
Hey,
I'm in need of an analog mixer for my monitors and an audio interface for my Macbook and an IOS audio interface.
Is there one product that meets all of this? I don't need many inputs, even a single stereo input would be enough, but more the better ofc. Some EQ would be a plus too. An headphone cue would be nice if I ever DJ or need a headphone click.
I ran into the Yamaha AG03
but a reviewer mentions the a constant white noise so I'm hesitant, I like my quiet
Thanks for any help.

Behringer Air XR series might work for you.
Thanks, I forgot to say I need something rather compact, I travel a lot. Looks super interesting though!
Maybe more inputs than your asking for, but the Keith McMillen K-Mix does all that, tho its a digital mixer not analog. Only downsides are the touch interactions aren't as good as a knobs/faders (I don't like touching it live), and the inputs run somewhat quiet (but definitely still usable).
I keep wanting to switch to something small with physical controls, but all the other small mixers (like the ZED 10i) don't allow you to input ALL the mixer channels into your computer/iOS-device.
Note: The used price on these fluctuates a lot, I got mine for ~$300
I use a Behringer Air XR-18
I got it specifically for being able to record direct to iOS and it can be used with a computer DAW as well.
It is mostly an input and output routing devise, the actual mixing is done on an iPad or iPhone. It has 16 mic/line inputs and two aux or a stereo input too.
I am able to run two different mixes at the same time (you can do more) one for live playing and one for recording with separate monitor mixes for each.
It has EQ and effects that can all be routed anyway you like.
I believe the the XR-18 is the only one of the X Air series that has the ability to record individual tracks (18 in and 18 out) I think the others ( The 12 and the 16 only record stereo) but you can record to a USB stick with those
I was surprised At how small the XR-18 is, smaller than a loaf of bread.
It was really confusing for me to set up as An interface with my daw. They made it so flexible so that you can route anything anywhere and it does so much, much more than I will ever need and there are multiple ways to do everything that it seems overly complicated to my small brain.
But... The wonderfully simple thing is now I have 6 synths, multiple outs of a drum machine, guitar, bass, backing tracks on an iPad and vocals all hooked up for live performance and recording all the time.
Interesting! I have the Quneo by Keith McMillen, which I love but I know exactly what you mean about the touch feel, I sometimes prefer something more physical too. I'll look into it! Thanks!!
Hey Thanks for the detailed answer. This thing looks quite powerful, maybe a tiny bit heavy for traveling for me but I'll watch video reviews!
I almost bought a xenyx 8 last week, I think they might work with iOS but not sure, just need something to tie a few bits together and the USB model looks like it might be pretty versatile...
@stelvio , I use an AG06 for one of my iPads and there is no noise issues at all,
It’s a great little interface , as quiet as any of my other motus or focusrite stuff. I think it’s over looked as it’s not a midi interface, it’s preamps are nice actually, I use it for vocals no prob at all.
Hope that helps
Nice! The K-Mix can also function as a midi controller, so depending on what you do with the Quneo, you might be able to replace it (even less stuff for travel).
I have one of the little Behringer mixers with built in USB (2 channel audio interface) and it works fine.

I usually use my zoom u24 with my iOS devices but when I have used the mixer it works pretty well. It’s half the current price of the zoom so pretty incredible value for money. It’s small but feels pretty sturdy.
I’ve not had a chance to really put I through its paces yet but plan to use it as part of a small desktop/hardware setup. Being able to record the stereo master to an iPhone without an additional interface will hopefully be a bonus, freeing up the zoom to let me use an iPad with Samplr or as an external fx unit.
That was the one I nearly got, I think I’ll end up with one as I’ve got five in analogue only version that’s great - do you know if putting a turntable through it is ok? I just want to sample some old records at some point...
I think a turntable would need a separate pre-amp. It has a line in for 2-track tape/cd etc but not a turntable phono inputs.
Or if you’ll be doing lots with vinyl perhaps consider a DJ mixer instead. I think B do some with USB too.
Depends if your tt has a built-in preamp. They seem to be more common these days.
Ah cheers, that’s what I thought @anickt @klownshed I’ll look at others, it just a separate preamp, the turntable is old, neighbour left it outside years ago but it worked so I rescued it... that plus charity who crate diving has left me itching to get some low quality old vibes from classical records going...

@anickt that’s just about my ball park, nice one 🤣
Maybe this one is better though

I actually thought today, maybe a gramophone and a contact mic would be fun
Yeah, I didn't see it that way.
Does it behave nicely when connected to an iPad too?
Thanks, I'm really leaning toward this one. It's quite versatile. Good to hear about no noise. Maybe the reviewer had the pre-amp mic gain up or something.
I don't use it regularly but just testing it now it worked immediately without setup.
I recommend the SoundCraft Notepad 12fx. It has an FX loop, class-compliant USB, knobs, a surprising amount of routing options, and more stereo inputs than anything else this size. It’s also cheap, and sounds great. I would still be using it but I needed something bigger.
The Soundcraft Notepad-5 might be enough for my use and I kind of like the look of it. But I don't see anything about it IOS/ iPads compatibility over USB.
Cant you just plug speakers into an Iconnect 4+ ?
Thank you for this recommendation!! Seems like everything I could need at a cheaper price point than the interfaces I was looking at.
Zoom Livetrak L8 / L12
I bought it to use with an iPad, and it works fine. The only thing you can’t do is tweak the routing of the second pair of USB outputs. Or inputs. I don’t remember exactly, but it’s all in the manual, which is available on the site.
You can!
Audiofuse by Arturia meets your above requirements.. except the EQ for monitors parts
You can use it as Mixer too, if not using interface
