AUM allows you to ‘add a tag’ to a file.. but where is it?
In AUM there is an option after having selected a file to play to add a tag to it.. but where is the tag shown? I have tried several times but cannot find any indication that my file has been tagged - in AUM or AudioShare.

I think you're talking about the iOS "Add Tag" prompt? Those tags are showing in the files app. It's not an AUM specific feature.
