i was originally inspired to learn more after watching SoundForMores video where he sets it up in his demo
Thanks for the tip @reasOne
Looks cool! Seems like Instruo Harmonaig https://www.perfectcircuit.com/instruo-harmonaig.html
I’m confused... I don’t have this one (and I’ve noticed I have fewer modules within other categories that were shown in the video, too) but I thought miRack had a defined set of modules? Is it possible for one to add new modules separately?
Look under Bidoo @tehskwrl
I don’t have Bidoo in the list?
@tehskwrl, I think maybe these guys are talking about things that are in the beta test version.
Ah sorry, yes I forgot I was using the beta. Usually turns up fairly soon.
Maybe I should shut up..
@reasOne we're letting all the cats out of the bags!
=^_^= Exciting news, then! Thank you @wim @Jocphone
oh oops! i thought bidoo modules came out already! since soundformore posted the youtube video...
well anyway def one to look forward too!!
Some amazing stuff in beta. You'll love it.
SoundForMore's tutorials for true beginners really got me started on miRack. His easygoing voice and relaxed pace were key. I am grateful to all tutorial video makers, but most of y'all rush at a fast pace.
I noticed his screen shows 50 sequencer modules while my miRack shows 46. Looking forward to the next update!
A question.
Does the ,’D’, play well with the ,’M’? 🧐
Not wanting to step on anyone’s toes.
I quite like this modular thing. 🤩
Of course, modular all the things, Mambo the Drambo with miRack in the church of AUM.
Sweet.
Music to my ears.
For the moment, miRack can receive MIDI from Drambo but not the other way around - at least not until the update that will release the MIDI out module.
miRack can also process Drambo audio using the audio in module(s).
I've got the midi side of things covered so I'm not that fussed
about MiRack having no midi out for now though it definitely
will come in handy in the future.
This is the most useful function for me and
I've noticed that it will soon have multi out as well.
What does it sound like?
The FX sounds great with just the iPad speakers. I haven't plugged the iPad into my monitors yet but I'm sure they sound even better through good monitoring/amplification/headphones. The youtubers who put up tutorials seem to like the Plateau reverb module a lot. Never heard of it before but it's quickly grown on me. The MI Clouds module is in there too but haven't tried it yet. Supposedly all the Mutable Instruments modules are running off the exact same code as the physical modules.
Good to know.
Very interesting.
The Burns Audio apps
do the same thing.
They were the apps that originally switched me on to taking a closer look at modular.
I think dRambo and MiRack are
going to pair up quite nicely.
Nice one.
Oh yeah, Burn Audio's Spectrum Synthesis Bundle is one of my go-tos for jamming in AUM.
Among the most valuable things I'm learning in miRack is how to patch up the reverb, delay, filter, etc. modules for modulation, and set them up to be clocked and reset. And of course the core practical habits like always having a limiter and VU meter at the end of the audio chain, and set up modules to not move unless I turn on the "move" switch, because I quickly got tired of modules moving when I just wanted to adjust a knob or a fader.
I’ve been learning
this in dRambo also.
It’s a lot of fun.
I wish had known this when I
had first started with dRambo.
I still load oscillators with caution.
I hear you.
I’m still figuring out gates
and their many uses
and what makes the
sequencer type modules tick.
At the moment I’m having a lot
of fun with the transient detector.
Props to whoever put up this beginner friendly video. I manually recreated the patch, then messed with the Harmonics, Timbre, and Morph knobs on Macro Oscillator 2... and got an organ like sound playing a chord progression that I liked.
Interesting that he chose to modulate the Hold in Plateau instead of one of the many other patch points.
Bump (sorry @McD
)
Does anyone know if the expander is available in MiRack like Omri demonstrates here in VCV?
I don’t believe so. It was introduced in version 2 and I would guess that is when it became dependent on VCV Rack version 2. MiRack is limited to plugins versions that are compatible with VCV 1 because of 2 having been moved to GPL licensing that’s incompatible with the App Store.
I noticed that zOù MAï v2 is now GPL licensed as well, so that tends to back up that assumption.
Thanks @wim - cool sequencer
