  • Yes, I’ve just tried it and it doesn’t work on my iPad air2 latest OS. After downloading the app it hangs, I also tried it hooked up to a Digitakt but no use. I wrote to the developer and received a reply saying there is an issue with iPad airs. He’s submitted a new update which will be in the App Store in several days. He invited me beta test the app which I’ve accepted. I would contact the developer directly before buying the app. I’ll update you when I have more information. Watch this space.

FYI - I recently ordered an Elektron Model:Samples, so I joined up over at Elektronauts forum to learn about the unit while I wait for it to arrive. The developer of that app posts over there and actively responded as of this morning:

    https://www.elektronauts.com/t/transfer-samples-app-for-ios-anyone-here-using-it/136352/18

    Here was his response:

"_Hey everyone, developer here, current status: works with M:S and Digitakt, you can transfer individual files or folders, Android version planned for Sep-Oct. If you experience problems with the app or have feature suggestions / general feedback feel free to get in touch on FB or here
    _"

FWIW, several of the users there had successfully used the app and did not report the issues you noted. So hopefully that is specific to your iDevice, and the issue will be cleared up.

The M:S is not really a sampler since you cannot sample directly into it. But if this $6 app functions even passably well, that's an extremely powerful, mobile solution for capturing, chopping, and mangling samples on an iOS device and quickly sending it over via CCK!

  • Looking forward to this supporting Rytm.

  • can confirm this is freaking awesome for the model samples!.
since the m:s is not a sampler, having this app effortlessly transfer samples that i’m making in AUM over to it with one click and no need for a computer makes it feel a lot more like a sampler and certainly is easy and inspiring!
itll crash here n there but just keep trying haha its def faster than grabbing a laptop especially if you’re on the move

  • There was another update for stability a few days ago. Credit for the dev - he has continued to work on updates. I have not tried the new version yet to see if it crashes at all. Even when it does, it's pretty quick to start it up and try again.

I've really been trying to sort out how to organize/transfer my samples onto my M:S. Even with the Desktop app, there really is no way to re-order folders that are already on the M:S (you can only rename them). You can move things off the device and then back on where you want them, but that tends to be glitchy.

So I'm working on getting all my folders organized on my PC so I can send them over how I want them. So for sampled content from iOS apps, here would be an example file path:

    Pool --> iOS Apps --> Drambo --> Bass1

One small tip - the M:S only really displays about 7 characters on the screen, so as much as you can keep file names short (or front load the important bits), it will make navigating on the device that much easier.

  • Just bought a Model:Samples, so I will watch this thread!

  • I posted this in the Elektron Forum but thought Id share it in this, the best forum ever….

This app has a lot potential, many of us don’t want a laptop around for making music (sick of the mouse after all day at work). Since the excellent web based “elk-herd” app doesn’t work on iOS, this is the only solution I know of.
    Some issues:

    • I’m missing the normalize, reverse, and other options… (screenshot)

    • same for slice mode… Crossfader only does sample speed, no reverse, gain….
    • in slice mode if you import multiple samples they’re not imported in a “logical” order. Seems like the order is pretty much random, and you can’t rearrange the samples. I’d like to chain velocity samples and set the sample start point via parameter locks to mimic a more realistic kit.
    • the “auto” slice is a nice feature but it seems to need some work. You can’t delete slices (can you?.) or manually add them, also the ability to move slices seems to appear only when there’s a few… it’s confusing.

Way around this would be to edit the files with Auditor and use Transfer app just to upload, but it’d be a lot quicker to do it all in the app.

I have the paid version and would like to hear comments on the DT “editing” IAP. Is it working ok?. Useful?.
    I hope @alexalx666 is following this thread…
    Cheers!

  • Works great with my Digitakt.

  • Sweet, thanks!

Still can’t get it to work. Just hangs on a loading spinner when trying to send to the Digitakt.

  • Is the app still in the store? If I click on the link a pop up appears that says: “The app is not currently available in the country or area.”
My App Store is the Italian one.

  • The same thing happens to me (in the German App Store). I bought the app. I cannot access via the purchases either. It currently appears to be removed from the store. I hope not permanently. Actually works quite well.

    Thank you very much!
I was looking for an app to manage samples directly from the iPad to Model Sample and this seemed to be very good. Hope it will be available back soon

Terrible experience with this app and this dev. I don’t recommend purchasing this, and believe me I really wanted it to work.
I bought the Transfer app a while back. Mixed results, quite buggy but would work now and then. (Edit: just saw my own comments above 😅)
Went to try again today, after Digitakt 1.5 update and some chains made with the amazing DigiChain app recommended by @sinosoidal on another thread.
The app I had purchased (Transfer) is missing from the AppStore, instead there’s now one that’s apparently the same called “Transfer Samples”. The old one wasn’t working so, idiot me, I bought the same/new one. Crashes, buggy as hell. Not only that it freezes the Digitakt when attempting to connect.
I’ve paid 2 times for the same app and none of them work. Asked for a refund.
Hope someone makes an app that works to transfer samples to the Digitakt. Not asking for Overbridge, just a simple transfer tool. If only midi worked on iOS browsers, cos the Elk app works wonderfully well.

  • @tahiche Yep. Me too. It works rarely and if it does it's buggy and clunky. I fell for it as well. The dev is a kook as he never answered any of my inquiries. I got fed up and just use my macbook for sample and utility these days.

But it’s even worse because the original app was removed from the AppStore and the new one doesn’t work either. I obviously shouldn’t have bought it again, but I was so hoping that it would work this time… I’m telling you, the new one is even worse, it freezes the Digitakt.
If I don’t get a refund I’m gonna be really pissed.

Surely the dev knows it doesn’t work. Why put up a new one that’s still broken?? Ridiculous. Hope you get your refund.

I’m curious, can you not just use audio over usb to sample into the Digitakt though?

Cos I have to do the process, trim, rename… I can spend 4 hours on something so I don’t waste 2 minutes. I’m very dumb in that department!

More importantly, if I have sample chains like those made with the great DigiChain app, those are already perfectly segmented and timed for perfect slices. Resampling would screw that up. BTW that web app is free and it’s amazing, I’d happily pay for it if it integrated the midi stuff to transfer the samples.

Ah yeah that’s what I figured. I’m usually sampling on the go so I guess my brain works differently with that. I only occasionally dip into my sample folders and when I do it’s for mangling purposes lol

But yes I’ve been following that site closely and it seems great.
