I was going to use the delay queue method for playback in a script for generating fugues based on a phrase entered via MIDI in, but I hit the compound labelling issue and very quickly lost interest.
Since there is no file input or file output, the midi file player request asked in the threads title can‘t be done in Mozaic like wim already stated.
.
Did i say impossoble ? McD is right, this triggers my curiosity....
And here another of my quirky ideas on how to solve the ‚impossible‘ :
Write a python midi file read (Pythonista even supports app extension availabe from a files share menu) that outputs customized Mozaic script source code to the clipboard. With a Mozaic instance open, select all, paste and upload:
Voila, a Mozaic instance playing just this midi file - the generated source code is a general player where the data arrays are pre-filled with the notes and other midi events from the midi file.
But i will not start working on this, since there are
A ) only few people with both Pythonista and Mozaic and
B ) there are already AUs to do so (Photon AU, BeatHawk - both with restrictions) and
C ) hopefully some of the other midi sequencers/piano rolls will add this feature
