A Coronation Of Ducks / McD and Me

@McD did the backing strings and horns. I did the lead lines and mix. McD’s tracks were recorded using Staffpad’s included instruments and ported to Cubasis.

  • Wow. The movie score for "1900" was by the italian master of film music Ennio Morricone. I'm going to look for a streamable version.

  • Thanks @groby. I didn’t consciously think of Morricone, but I did hear a harmonica in there.

  • what a great violin @ 1:14 this was good guys @LinearLineman @McD

Tell us about the instrumental apps and presets you used @LinearLineman.

  • @noob @McD, that’s the Thumbjam violin. The synth lead is a combination of Magellan Silent Drama and Noise Moraz Lead.
We acoustic guys would be lost without those Thumbjam solo strings.

Can you imagine a ThumbJam update that adds AUv3 so we could use the Violin, the Cello
and the Oboe in the same DAW session without freezing? They are really expressive and the Thumbjam keyboard is on a par with the Roli and Geoshred interfaces.

  • dang never tried that app s

ThumJam? It's amazing. It even does audio to MIDI conversion I think but I haven't actually tried it yet. The Arp feature is one of the best on IOS IMHO but my opinion on Arp's is
based on how clever the arpeggio patterns are and this one is really clever with a lot f great chord options. I'm sure there's even more to mention and hopefully some old timers will weigh in on this amazing app. The same developer also has a DrumJam app that's equally amazing but for entirely different reasons. There are YouTube Videos to make the case I'm sure. It's like the Lumbeats drummers but for world percussion options... hand drums. etc.

  • Nicely done you two. Thumbjam and StaffPad play well together. The title is fitting too. My young son loves ducks and this feels like a song he would hum to himself.

  • Great work guys! Definitely getting some kind of classical movie score vibe from it.

@McD I totally agree about arps in general; they’re only as useful as their patterns are clever. And yes, I also dream of an AUv3 version of ThumbJam! (GeoShred too!)

I'd take anything new from @sonosaurus. Very musical creation tools. Like @LuisMartinez I don't insist on the AUv3 feature set but I'd welcome it.

  • Very nice work gentlemen.

@McD You know that you can run Thumbjam with multiple outputs so you can use it as a multitimbral sound source?
Each split receives and sends on separate MIDI channels, so you can use it as multichannel keyboard as well.

Finally, you can also run Thumbjam as a slide-over app, so you can see it on your main DAW screen too (albeit a tiny version)

Not AU, so no state saving, but very close to overall musical performance functionality.

  • Thanks for listening @mjcouche @Intrepolicious and @aplourde. I’m sure @McDuck, I mean @McD, is glad to hear the compliments, as am I.
