Comments
i wondered too. i thought i just saw a video
Yes, just tap and hold on the clip, then you can select Import midi
Hiya - am trying to test this out just now. Not working for me, either inside AUM or standalone - I can select a midi file from my iPad, then the file window closes & nothing happens.
Any ideas why please? I've not bought/unlocked the Matrix component yet, as I want to test this first. Is this functionality available in the demo mode?
Demo mode doesn't limit the midi import. Please send me a private message with the midi file your are importing to see if there any problem.
Hiya, thank you, though you already answered my query elsewhere, & we exchanged some PMs :-) Unfortunately, still have the same problem - just tried on the latest beta.
It may be a multi-track midi file (0 file format.. me thinks). had the same issue with an iBassist export..
Did you send him the MIDI file?
Yeah, & no joy. Tried some stock midi files out of Ableton too.
The midi files I want to export are from Dorico (scoring software) but should just be one track, ie one instrument. Unless i'm misunderstanding? How would I check this? Thanks.
This page will tell you if the file is a format 0 or 1 file. If it is a format 1 file, it will tell you that there was an error.

Ok, so this is useful info :
Website returns "PROBLEM:Midifile must be type 0, that means it must have only one track." for my original track. I downloaded a freeware midi editor (https://www.midieditor.org/) and in there I can see my file has a Track 0 with no musical info on it, as well as my music on Track 1.
I can delete that track via MidiEditor, then reupload to the website you mentioned, and now it can read the file. Great!
So, now back to LK (the current beta)...
Aaaaaaaand:
Nope! Still doesn't work.
@sinosoidal - do let me know if you can ever recreate this & have any luck solving it.
If you have Gadget you can try importing the MIDI file into it. If it works and it shows more than one track, delete the unneeded tracks and export the MIDI from Gadget.
Gadget accepts both MIDI file formats and I have successfully imported midi files into LK that have been exported from Gadget.
We have always been able to import the midi files you sent us. Can you share those files with people here in the forum to see if they have the same problem?
Yeah post them here and I'll give the file a shot. Haven't had any problems importing midi files.
Hiya,
Here's a few of the original MIDI files I was trying to export - which @sinosoidal managed to import.

Just to recap: when I try it (on my iPad Air) I can select the file, but then the file window closes & nothing happens.
If anyone else can recreate this, hopefully it might help solve it!
(Sorry if you couldn't access the above link before, it should work now).
I could not recreate the problem you describe. I downloaded, unzipped and imported to LK without any problem. Maybe not what you wanted but, well it's done.
It imports glitch-free here.
Imported without issues both standalone and auv3
Thanks for checking this.
Here's a video of me trying this once more on latest beta, both in an empty clip in the Default project, as well as creating a new track/scene. Can anyone see anything I'm doing wrong?

Try deleting LK and reinstall.. if you haven't already..
Yup, did that a few versions ago.
What version of iOs?
Are you using the App Store version of LK or a beta?
iOS 12.4.8 (as far as this iPad Air will go).
On Beta version of LK via Testflight, though I was also experiencing these problems on public version, & tried the beta at recommendation of @sinosoidal.
Maybe your version of iOS is causing the problem?
You might consider deleting the version you have, rebooting , downloading App Store version. Rebooting does some clean up that doesn't happen if you delete and reinstall straightaway.
Even if you did that in the past and it didn't work, it is worth a try.
Does someone else have iOS 12?
I am on 13.7. It could be OS related.
Yup, worth a try, did that just now, but no luck.
This is the only thing I can think of just now too.
imported fine into my ios 12.4.9 iPad mini.
