Mela Synth FX Walkthrough - winners announced
Mela Synth FX Walkthrough - win 1 of 3 free copies!
Mela is a fantastic-sounding analogue synth with 4 oscillators, a choice of 5 waveforms (including phase distortion), a warm-sounding noise source, extensive in-app modulation options (various envelopes, lfos, envelope follower) and an fx section with distortion, flanger, phaser, delay and chorus. As an added bonuses, the fox section can be opened as a standalone audio unit fox in the host of your choice.

Great synth by a great dev, strongly recommended!
And great tutorial, Gavin!
Thanks guys! @cem_olcay @despego I agree Nikolozi is a great dev, seems this synth has really developed a lot since it first came out, and he has always been very prompt and thorough in answering any Qs I've had.
The random number generator has spoken, and the 3 lucky winners of free copies of Mela are:
Christopher Rukowicz, Mnml, and Rynamics. Congrats guys. @Poppadocrock I'll pm you your code now 😊
Oops, you'll have to wait, just realised Nikolozi still hasn't sent me the codes. Will send u as soon as I get them. @Poppadocrock
Hooray, I won. Awesome. Cheers @Gavinski
@Gavinski Will wait. No worries. I’ll keep an eye out. This just made my day.
Excellent prize, congrats
I just noticed his other app NPD the phase distortion synth is not on the US App Store... maybe it’s a temporary thing.
He removed it when he added NPD's oscillator and filter to Mela.
Oh ok. I did not know that. Holy crap, so basically NPD is in Mela? I’m even more excited to get that code...
Code sent @Poppadocrock 😉 and yes, Mela is now basically 2 synths for the price of one, lol
Plus an FX unit. I really like it, once I downloaded the additional presets on his website, which were all made by AB Forum members In another thread, I was even more In love. Thank you again Random Number Generator, I mean @Gavinski lol. Great App. I’ll leave a glowing review on the App Store soon.
I really love this synth. It sounds great first off. What’s truly inspiring is I’ve never been one to design my own sounds from scratch like I am with mela. I typically like to find a preset and tweak if necessary or randomize (if synth app has that feature) and tweak, but with Mela I’m totally enjoying designing my own sounds from scratch. I’m not sure if it’s the simplicity and clean interface or the great sound, but I’ve been on a patch making roll the last several days, and I’m loving it. I think I might even share a few in the other thread so people can use them. Honestly I didn’t think I’d be sharing an original preset anytime soon, but Mela has changed that.
@Gavinski or anyone else know why it won’t let me leave a review in the US app stOre. It says I don’t own the app. You know what.... I have an iOS update to do, so let me do that first.
You can't leave reviews for apps that you got through a code. I guess it is a mechanism to stop people leaving good reviews in exchange for free apps. @Poppadocrock
Appayola
@Poppadocrock that's great by the way that it has got you into doing your own presets!
@hypnopad what does Appayola mean, lol?
@Gavinski App + payola. In the early days of rock, record industry people would pay djs to play their record. It became illegal and was called payola.

Ah! Got ya
@Gavinski There must be one of those cool German words that don’t translate into English (i.e. fahrvergnügen) that means “ when you think you’re clever but no one gets it”.😄😉
(This post might also qualify)
Don't worry, you're clever and we get it now. But let us know if you find out the cool German word for this 😉
