Audiobus 3 + AUM - Which Do I open First
I have an Audiobus 3 session with Patterning 2 Multiout loaded. The outputs are all then separated out to individual outputs in AUM.
My question is, am i supposed to open Audiobus 3 session first, then click launch AUM within audiobus, or is it best to open AUM, and Patterning first, then load the audiobus session.
Im having A LOT of trouble getting this session to load properly.

It shouldn't matter, but in general whenever having troubles with IAA apps it's best to load them first then start Audiobus. In your case, I would try opening patterning 2, then Audiobus, then adding patterning 2 to Audiobus, then adding AUM without starting AUM first.
Don't forget to add the Patterning 2 main output even though you don't need it. You can mute that channel or remove the output for it, but I don't think the others will work without the main output loaded.
[edit - I just tested and it seems adding the main output isn't necessary. Everything works just fine here, so I'm not sure why you're having difficulty. Maybe try restarting the device if you haven't already.]
I think any way is ok but you add patterning in audiobus then to aum as a lane but then add aum to a seperate lane also. This seems to load all the other aums.
Start in audiobus. Add patterning-aum lanes, then add an aum as an input on its lane. I think.
thanks guys! i had to restart, and seems to be working as it should now.
Im new to audiobus, and while I love AUM for mixing bussing etc, Ive gotta say i love Audiobus State Saving on IAA stuff. Plus, the sync with Patterning as well as Elastic Drums is MUCH better than AUM's. I couldnt even use Elastic Drums with AUM because of the delay.
+1 - love me some Audiobus! AUM is great, but I prefer to avoid the window diving in AUM on the iPad screen, and I love having that AB app switcher and transport available everywhere. The two are like left arm and right arm to me. I would hate to be without either of them.
The Audiobus config document has the AUM state info in it. So, I would launch AB3 first.
I don't think Patterning 2 has State saving support.
AUM does have AB3 state saving. Part of the question was AB3 or AUM first.
So, if using AUM and AB3, saving an AB3 preset means you don’t need an AUM as long as you save the AB3 preset. In which case launch AB3 first. It will load AUM and the AUM session automatically. You don’t need a separate AUM session file, either.
I don’t think the order for opening Patterning matters although as a matter of habit, I tend to open it first.
I know. just clarifying so there's no confusion when p2 doesn't restore state.
