AudioShare suddenly disappeared from Files app...?

Anyone else had this problem? I’ve been having issues with Files displaying “Content Unavailable” messages lately, as discussed in another thread recently and it seems to be a problem with having too many files in one folder at a time, at least with older iOS for apparently just a small percentage of users, temporarily solvable by a reboot, but now AudioShare has just gone and disappeared from the sidebar and any “Save to File” sharing options...

Still able to share from AudioShare to other apps and access it from apps with specific pathways to do so (such as AEM) but otherwise it’s just randomly gone...

Already checked settings, everything ticked to green, restarted, rebooted, turned off settings to red, rebooted, turned back to green and rebooted again...still nothing, any other suggestions?

Thanks.

  • Any iOS update in the meantime? Which iOS?

  • Just for the record, which iOS version and AudioShare version are you using?

Was either updated recently? Could that be the cause of the problem?

In the previous discussion, I thought we determined that the problem seemed to lie in the app owning the files, AudioShare in your case. Similarly large numbers of files were visible in Files when stored in FileExplorer Pro, which appears in the Files sidebar same as AudioShare.

  • mabe its a "hidden feature ".....

  • @ManWhoWouldBeStrings Never had that happen. there’s delete and reinstall but if you have a lot of stuff saved in AudioShare make sure the back it up, or something.

As mentioned above it could definitely be the OS, check for update

Do you have any folders in AudioShare that have a lot of files (i.e. hundreds)?

    What OS version?

If in iOS 13, make sure that AudioShare is enabled as a Location. To do this, tap on the '...' to the right of the word BROWSE in the sidebar. Tap 'Edit' in its menu.

Is AudioShare listed as a file location?

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.

Did you possible use a TestFlight version, that expired?

    That could explain it.
I usually don't keep expired betas on my device but rather re-install them when new version drops...

Oh man...ok well I just wrote a response to all of your wonderful suggestions and attempts to help, explaining why none of them were the solution...and then...saw and clicked on Edit above the Browse sidebar section in Files and saw AudioShare had somehow been unchecked, problem solved...feelin pretty stupid at the moment.

Thanks anyways for all your suggestions! Consistently amazed with this community. Cheers.

Woah. That would be like the last resort if you ask me.

    • Have you tried touching the circle with three dots at the top-right of the left panel in the files app, then selecting “edit”? When I restored my iPad from a backup, AudioShare was turned off, so it didn’t show. All I needed to do was flip it back on.
    • You should be able to safely delete and reinstall the files app without losing any files. I’ve done this before, more than once. (I’m not sure I’d attempt it without a full backup of the device though.)
    • Unfortunately, a full restore isn’t an option for you because that will force an OS upgrade to the latest version, and you’ve already said that you can’t do that right now due to lack of Internet bandwidth. If it was me, I wouldn’t take the risk until I was somewhere I knew I could recover.
    • One possible thing less drastic than reinstalling AudioShare would be to “offload” it then restore it. Find AudioShare in Settings > General > device Storage, then tap on AudioShare and select “Offload App”. Wait a bit, maybe reboot the device, then try to open AudioShare. It’ll re-download. Then check the files app. If it’s still not there, then repeat the first step above to see if you can switch it on. (Note: do not enable “Offload Apps”, the first option in the storage list. Only ever offload individual apps.)
