How do do I record audio from an external instrument into Bm3 directly?

I’m trying to get my synth to play in Bm3...I’ve linked it to an audio track and set it as an input but no sound or evidence of sound comes out. The only way so far I’ve been able to do it is to use bias fx 2 as an IAA and let the synth go through that. I’m using an irig hd 2 as my audio interface and the synth is a mini novation plugged in from its headphone jack

    Check the mixer. At the bottom left "Mon." needs to be on.
