Cubasis Dev: Timeline for track to track patching?
Hi all, hope everyone is doing good.
I saw Cubasis 3 was on sale, very tempted. But my primary reason for holding out is track to track patching still seems missing.
For example, track 1 recording the output of track 2, or the MIDI from track 3 being recorded in track 4, etc. As far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong) this is not yet possible without the help of other apps (I'm looking at you MIDI Tools!).
Is there a timeline for this being implemented? Is it even planned? Beatmaker 3 already has this. It would be a game changer for me.
Thanks!

@LFS this would be really good for all of us to know. Will it be during 2020 or 2021?
If the planning is as good as we get the impression of this should already scheduled for implementation on the roadmap?
I know the policy seems to be NOT to announce any new features before the update is released but seriously...
...the omission of Track 2 Track for routing of both audio & midi for such a long time is taxing on the patience of even the most die-hard Cubasis fans even though not everyone publicly admits that...
The Track 2 Track routing would also benefit the Mini Sampler as it would allow us to select any track as the input for the sampler.
Being able to collapse & expand the group tracks would make the a lot more usable and save space on the screen...
Cheers!

@jameslondon74 @samu You could be already aware of this but, I've just been banging on Ruismaker Noir in C3, and quite coincidentally did something similar to track2track just now where I recorded the MIDI from Noir into its MIDI track, then froze the track and voila, a new audio track from my Noir MIDI track was created. Not the same thing, but yields a similar result for when turning MIDI tracks to audio tracks, at least.
That I am aware of, but think about it this way...
Host for example a vocoder AUv3 plug-in on an audio track and try to route midi to the plug-in from another track in Cubasis.
This could also be for example the AudioKit audio-tune plug-in that you wish to control by midi from another track, no can do at the moment unless doing extreme routings outside Cubasis to AB3, AUM etc. and then back in again which makes session recall a nightmare with hit or miss success rate...
Next up are the AUv3 plug-ins that accept side-chain input and/or provide multiple inputs & outputs.
We currently have no 'DAW Host' that properly supports AUv3's that support multiple inputs and outputs.
...so we are almost 'forced' to use AUM or apeMatrix while waiting for the DAWs to 'catch up' and support them...
Sooner or later we'll get there, the question is when
FYI without wishing to dampen enthusiasm for this (and its something I’d also like), Cubase 10 Pro does not have a flexible inter-track recording facility unlike Ableton Live for instance. If Cubasis’s features are a subset of its daddy then ….
That's a kinda bummer then ain't it?
I use track 2 track routing for both audio and midi in Logic all the time...
I am indeed. I learned to highlight a MIDI region, perform my Noir track and then freeze. But this is a workaround. I'm interested in an actual feature-set of Cubasis that seems lacking. Certainly compared to other DAWs (like Beatmaker).
Sign me up for this “must have” feature as well... actually, I was quite surprised this wasn’t baked in at launch. Being able to route one track to another is almost a must have for electronic music production.
I'm also puzzled. Especially as it wasn't programmed into Cubasis 3. Which is why I wondered if it's in the pipeline. I've been on the Cubasis forums, and have definitely found workarounds. But I dunno, call me picky, but I'd like to see what Steinberg do with this. Could be awesome.
Oh yah group tracks are monster huge. The expanding selected track feature you mentioned before would be ace too! i would love waveform display options still too (half height, summed stereo).
All great features, but can we try and avoid this thread turning into a wishlist for Cubasis? I am specifically asking for confirmation on a particular feature that it seems a lot of people have been waiting for.
Makes sense. Well, AB forum is the conversational mutating rabbit hole but the Steinberg forum could serve you better...
