Why was Lorentz on in the background even though never having been opened?
Six days ago I bought a new iPad Pro and restored all my apps on it. After a few days of getting less than stellar battery life, I checked the battery usage thing and found that Lorentz was on (had been on?) in the background, chewing up lots of battery. I hadn't opened Lorentz even once on this new iPad.
Since deleting Lorentz, battery life has been much better. It's a shame, because I really like this synth and all the other ones from the same developer.
Why might this have happened? Could it be a one-off thing? Is it OK to reinstall the app?

Did Lorentz feature in any tracks that you may have loaded into a daw or Audiobus etc maybe?
Apps can't launch themselves. Maybe you opened an AUM or Audiobus project that opened it?
My short term memory is not what it used to be, but I'm sure Lorentz itself had not individually been opened. I did open AB3, CB2 and AUM; there may have been an instance of Lorentz floating around in there somehow.
I'm going to reinstall Lorentz and do some science.
It is most likely that you launched an AB3 or AUv3 project that used Lorentz as IAA -- unless you inadvertently launched it standalone and forgot that you had done so.
